Name of this Village?

Featured Replies

I drove up to Chiang Dao last week and traveled west around the mountain to a remote village here https://www.google.co.th/maps/@19.3842525,98.7207612,15z?hl=en

I forgot to note the name of the village while there and looking at the map cannot find anything definitive. I've looked up Mueang Khong based not the school name but that appears to be a village here http://www.maplandia.com/thailand/northeastern/chaiyaphum/ban-muang-khong/

Does anybody know the name of the first place? I think there are probably more than one village in this valley but not sure.

Thanks!

Thanks! That appears to be it. I guess the difference is, in spite of the spelling on the map, they don't have the "h" like the other.

Thanks again.

correct spelling (using standard RIT romanization) is Ban Mueang Khong

The sign for the school says the name of the village is Ban Mueang Khong.

I wouldn't trust Maplandia place marks, it's been wrong on many occasions; even Google gives the location on the Maplandia site as Ban Phet.

Yeah, I think it's an issue of transliteration with google. A search directs you to this other place. Another example http://www.citymaphq.com/thailand/korat/ban_muang_khong.html

Every google link I follow, with this spelling or the one Google tries to change it to, takes you to this place. There's an Island in southern Thailand that shares spelling with another Island in Thailand. I remember some confusion while planning a trip there a couple of years ago.

Thanks
