Small black and red worms in bathroom

Featured Replies

I've been finding these small black 'worms' in the bathroom for several months now. They seem to live in the cracks in the bathroom tiles, and are very small. They usually are under 3mm in length.

The ones picture were hanging around the toilet. They are most commonly found near the drain, but I'm not surprised to see them randomly anywhere.

Less common are these red worms. I found a nice big one to take a photo of, but they vary in both thickness and length. They are usually quite small, maybe 1.5cm in lenth upwards.

I've seen them in the cracks in the tiles too, and occasionally in the toilet bowl.

It appears that this photo is an earthworm(?)... but they may not all be earthworms. I'm no worm expert, but hopefully you are!

I've never been able to see much detail to the naked eye. These photos show a lot more detail than is normally visible.

Has anyone else seen worms in their bathroom? Are they dangerous? How can I stop them coming inside ( hopefully without killing them... bad karma, man wai.gif.pagespeed.ce.ptXUXgG4cAx1lGI2wn7 ) ?

I have come across the ones in the second image a couple of times lately.... I suspect they are coming from the shower drain ?.... I just flush em back down!

The second ones look like Leaches (not sure) but I have never seen leaches on Samui, only seen in Khoa Sok in the western Surratthani Province, area, in the jungle...

Try putting a little salt on them, see if that does the same as it does with slugs, or take them for a long ride!

I have had the black ones in the bathroom from time to time. Maybe 3 or 4 times in 14 years!

No problems with them though. Just pick them up and chuck them out. sick.gif If you are squeamish - pick them up in a tissue. cool.png

Red worms are prevalent in places with insufficient water that are topped up by water wagon.
