Applying for tourist visa extension without passport. Possible?

Featured Replies

My boyfriend has just applied for a visitors visa for a holiday in Europe, we will send his passport along with the application which takes UP TO 8 weeks. But his single entry tourist visa expires in 5 weeks. Is there any way to get the month extension with only a copy of his passport and perhaps proof that his passport is away for the application of a different visa? How do we do this??

Sorry, not possible.

Apply for extension before sending it away.

You can do it early as the extension starts when current permission to stay ends.

Call Immigration some people on here might not be up to date with the rules.

Do you really think immigration would do an extension with just a copy of the passport.

The only problem might be is they would not do the extension early enough.

Thanks for the laughs. Why don't you call immigrations and pose the O/P's question and let us know the response you get?

"Toto, I've a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore."

I dont think so. I mean where will they stamp the extension? On passport copy?

After all the crap they went through over stolen and false passports

Yep run right down, Buy a bottle of 15 year old scotch, 100,000 baht and they will look after you right away.

ANOTHER FIN EXAMPLE OF THE 4 "P" SYNDROME that so many people on here believe in

3 P

1. Piss

2. Poor

3. Planning and

4. Preparation.

Possibly, but you're not up to reality.

BTW, I seriously doubt that there is any European embassy/consulate that requires to send out a current passport while waiting for a visa.

Not 5 weeks early, I fear. Calling immigration will likely be a waste of time. Best to go in there, but be sure t o speak to an officer, not a clerk; preferably one who DOES know what he/she is talking about.

Seems kind of a wasted trip to be told that one needs a passport to get an extension.

Also, staying in Thailand without a passport or police report to justify theft or loss is not a good idea.

Of course not.

OP BF has a 60day permission to stay, usually Immigration will grant him another 30days, but only after the first 30day of the original (60day) permission of stay were complete. Anyhow I suggest go to Immigration now in person and try to apply for the 30day extension, they will decide on the spot and you know for sure. Go to Chaeng Watana, they are used to deal with many Farang on a daily basis.
