January 12, 201511 yr I am planning to go from Nang Rong to Savannkhet in Lao to renew my visa early March. I want to take my wife with me but she only has a Thai ID card. Does she need a full passport as we only intend to go across the border get the visa and return the same day ?
January 12, 201511 yr She can get a 3 day border pass that costs 30 to 50 baht dependent on where you get it. There is an office just before the bridge on the left. The last time I was there they didn't open until 8:30. She could apply for a passport in Korat. It only costs 1000 baht and it would be delivered by EMS in about 7 days.

Just a thought. Since your in Nang Rong You may want to make a trip into Cambodia she has to have a passport to leave Thailand and enter Cambodia as Thai ID's and day passes are not valid for crossing. Your only about 75 km from Korat. Get her a Thai passport.
