    As far as I know (its been a few years) everyone needs a visa but we got them from the airline issuing the ticket. Can't say they still do that.

    You are correct, everyone traveling to Australia needs a visa.

    Depending on the country of nationality you need to apply for a visa before you travel. You are talking about a visa waiver agreement which does not apply to Thai's and a number of other Asian countries.
