I am a Canadian citizen and will be going on a business trip for a few days to Paris. I don't need a VISA however my Thai spouse does. The application asks about a host and how it is worded it seems to mean a French host. Maybe I just don't understand the wording but there is no host I just want my wife to visit Paris with me. Can anyone advise me on this requirement?

Thanks.

Where does it ask about the host? On the Schengen application form, website instructions (be sure to chose "tourism" and not "visiting friends/family" on the websites) or elsewhere? On the form Q34 and Q35 ask about a host or -if there is no host- hotel reservations etc.

Obviously a host only apply if there is a person inviting the Thai or offering to be the guarantor. In Your case she is an ordinary tourist (as are you), so she should apply as one. Though in an accompanying letter you can include details such as her traveling with you (a Canadian citizen, copy of your passport). For accommodation, since there is no host, you will need hotel reservations. For proof of funds (there is no guarantor) she needs to show sufficient funds such as a bankaccount (debitcard, creditcard) she clearly has acces to.

Incase you haven't done so already you may wish to consult the Schengen stickied topic.

I'm using the TLScontact website which handles the VISA application for France, The application is "Short Stay Tourist Visit". I have read the sticky.
