Hooters opening in Pattaya!

i am led to believe hooters may open on the evening of december 31st

I was told the same thing, but not to the "general public", rather, a "soft opening".

In another online blog it was mentioned that in Bangkok, recruiters were in Nana Plaza GoGo bars asking girls to apply for jobs for the Bangkok(maybe Pattaya too?) locations. This makes one wonder if the questions/rules about tattoos and the girls "dating" customers was being ignored ?

I heard you got one complimentary short time with

every order of chicken wings...

This is no joking matter. It goes against the Hooters concept, that of teasing the customer. To have actual prostitutes serving and hustling phone numbers, tips, allowing touching, etc. may in fact cause the franchise problems with corporate. The "normal" Thai lady of course wouldn't dress in such a fashion so I guess it's a matter of having a staff or not. I won't leap to the assumption they won't want a "barfine" but my guess is they(Hooters) will stay away from pimping.

I thought the whole point of Hooters was the tease?

I mean if you look at the price of its famed chicken wings it certainly cant compete against the gai yang you can buy anywhere for a substantially lower price.

It certainly looks very tacky from the outside.

It might have novelty value for the first few months but I still predict it will fail miserably in Pattaya.

Big compliments to the builders of Hooters Pattaya, they did a marvelous job so quick. Didnt expected them to finish on time tho...

Despite all the negative comments inhere I think the branch in Pattaya will work tho, enough ''premium'' touristis which wants to pay the more expensive price.Besides this, its also about branding for Hooters in Asia.

In BKK its focused on some expats as well but as you all know, the expats in BKK are a bit different then the ones in Pattaya :-)

Only time will tell, I wil try it out next month but wont make it a daily visit

This is what's wrong with Pattaya. The beer bars, where you could sit and enjoy a beach view and feel the breeze are being replaced by soulless malls and franchises. Level them all, starting with the ceter of all evil, Central, demolish the beach road and extend the beach to the beer bars built on the vacant lots.

There's also a new branch opposite Nana Plaza on soi 4.

The hoards of Chinese tourists don't drink in beer bars. Like it or not, Pattaya is changing.

enough ''premium'' touristis which wants to pay the more expensive price.

Strange how so many think of visitors willing to pay more than double the local prices as "premium" tourists. The prices in Hooters in Bangkok are obscene and I'm sure they will be here in Pattaya as well. It's the dream of every bar owner here to get 160 Baht a beer etc. calling the customer "premium" or some other label, or more often of course, labeling those not willing and eager to be ripped off as cheap charlies. Overall, I love Hooters just don't anticipate going even once as they are indeed charging obscene prices. If they have the "all you can eat" at something like 700Baht I might give it a go once. But 20 wings for 700 Baht? A draft beer for 300 Baht? Have you lost the plot or are you in fact a "premium" punter?

Bottom line, once you are done and it's time to pay, you are no different than any other bloke. A farang, a visitor, a guest in the Kingdom. Allowing other farangs to rip you off here seems in and of itself obscene to me.

In Bangkok, plenty of expats pay those obscene prices!

Customers that look for value for their baht are not valued customers.....

Customers that that do not put a premium on value are premium customers..

So what do you call people who come into a third world country and pay first world prices and more(as in this instance, as Hooters is less expensive in the U.S.A.) to other farangs and/or prostitutes?

Bangkok and Pattaya are hardly "3rd World" cities.

BKK HOOTERS seems to be very successful so far, bu time will tell. The couple of times I was up there, it was packed. I think Pattaya has plenty of well-off tourists & residents to keep that place busy. Obviously it won't attract the Bouakao crowd. To each his own :-) It definitely brings a bit Miami Bay-Side feeling to Pattaya. Beats the sh....y bars full of screaming bg's & potbelly, often shirtless quality tourists.....& most probably they will screen their servers more aesthetically than most places thumbsup.gif Happy New Year *** MS>

I doubt whether the well off will be rushing to Hooters when there is The Mantra, Hilton, Marriot etc to service their needs.

Hooters is considered very low class in Australia and I don't see it being any different here.

Can't see where Hooter's concept meets Mantra,Hilton or Marriott?? Must have missed the sports bars in those venues....Was rather referring to the crowd that does not mind spending a few bucks in a clean and pleasant atmosphere, as opposed to the ones who are sitting in the car fumes & dust clouds in the classy venues along Soi Bouakao.

To each his own, as I mentioned. Prices will be high enough to keep certain groups out anyway :-) As to Australia, quite surprised to read rather bad reviews, indeed. Mostly staff complaints...???? Probably hard to find any servers below 75 kg's....judging by the comments my Aussie friends make about Australian women...., with which I might say I don't agree, there are plenty of good-looking women in any country..... Any pics of the birds who'll be working there?.

Just look at any bar web site. Same same. We know from other sources they hire prostitutes out of bars, we don't know yet about the tattoo's and "hooterfine" if any. We suspect the short time and long time prices to be on par with your "higher end" GoGo's, perhaps more like escort prices(5000.Baht for one hour). Don't fool yourselves guys...."regular" Thai ladies don't work in places like Hooters, dressed like hookers, flirting with farangs, etc.. It will be another glorified brothel with great chicken wing sauces.
