Hooters opening in Pattaya!

The last time I was in Puerto Vallarta Hooters seemed to be doing really well ... but so many Americans there ...

I never went to a Hooters. I guess, it's a American thing. Only looking but no touching. Then i prefer a Beer Bar with some chicks, beers and street-food.

Me either, never been and never will go.

What's the opposite of a bucket list?

The last Hooters I was in was in Tokyo a few years ago. Took my wife there as she wanted to know what it was all about (I didn't want to go, honest!wink.png) . As with most things she took it all in stride and we ended up having a fun couple of hours. Must admit it gave me a bit of a chuckle when the tiny (but very well endowed by Japanese standards) waitresses bellowed "WELCOME TO HOOTERS!!" as we walked through the door.

Maybe Hooters isn't for Pattaya, but what about a gay equivalent of it? What would you call a gay version of Hooters?

"shooters"?

It's about time a "quality" restaurant opens in Pattaya. It would be interesting to be part of that recruitment team that will be traveling thru Udorn, Korat, etc!

It's a straight thing. I watched a Super Bowl in the P.V. Hooters at the south end of the malacon. Great place with some real sweet señoritas.

So the article quoted places this megahooters on Beach Road with beach views. Anyone want to have a guess exactly where? With a quoted 11,000 sq ft of floor space and seating for 564, that's a sizeable bit of kerbside on Beach Road.

"The contemporary space will feature two bars, 50 high-definition televisions and two outdoor patios where guests can relax and take in the scenic views."

Maybe a loss-making restaurant on the front of Central Festival/Hilton is closing to make way for this new venue?

Well, the one upstairs to Mulligans already closed... and from what I know (personal contacts inside as well as personal experience being there), Mulligans is pretty run down currently (staff leaving, new staff just lazy and unfriendly, pub not meeting turnover expectation by management in Singapore), so that building might soon be fully vacated...

There you go then! There's your 'two outdoor patios' as well.

Shit we're good eh?

At 564 seats they are setting their expectations very high. I mean this would be a huge restaurant

I think a restaurant half this size would be plenty.

i don't think it can possibly be at central festival, not enough room for it................564 seats 11,000 sq ft

my guess is the area in front of selection hotel which is currently under development between soi's 5 and 6.

big bit of land facing the bay and near the premium hotels towards the north end of the beach

Possibly. They would need to be somewhere where there's heavy foot traffic, an international brand-name hotel, air-conditioned retail and dining or all three. The Marriott has Royal Garden towards the south end and the Hilton has Central Festival in the middle. The north end of beach is a bit of a 'desert' in that regard with Holiday Inn the only international player. Bit of a walk down to Soi 5 for some wings but I suppose one can then press on to Soi 6 for desserts.

Good Enough for Hillary, Good enough for Jingthing

Sure it is.

While I generally prefer more authentic Mexican places while I'm in the U.S. if a Chipotle opened in Pattaya it would instantly be 10 times better than any "Mexican" food ever sold in Pattaya. Yes I know it isn't "real" Mexican ... don't bother going there.

What ?

Amari with their "Tavern by the Sea" that does good business.

The nearby Gullivers Sports Bar, that also does good business.

Personally I think, Hooters would fit in, at the north end of Beach Road.

Excellent news! I welcome anything that counters the moves to transform Pattaya into a boring family destination, and having the world's largest international Hooter's is a step in the right direction. Now, if we could also get a casino and a race track `a la Happy Valley in Hong Kong we will be golden.

And hey, since I just found out that I'm psychic I fully expect this to happen.biggrin.png

Amari isn't a global hotel brand. Also, there isn't a collection of eating and shopping under one roof that the other couple of locations I mentioned have. I am not denying that the two places you mention do a roaring trade but that's just two.

But I agree that Hooters 'north end' would be a great start and a good fit too.
