Difficult to know what team he'll pick today. He has to rest some from the midfield and has options to bring in Krancjar, Palacios or Sandro. I believe Kaboul is back again as a CB option which is good because Gallas looks knackered and upfront i just hope he picks Pavlyuchenko., with VDV dropping off. (and atleast the Russian can take a penalty) Crouch was hopeless the other night and for some reason playing him on his own turns us into a route one long ball team.

Mark Lawrenson reckons we will only get a draw so obviously i'm very confident about this one.;)

Pavluchenko is our top scoring striker this season. Crouch has looked pedestrian and against the Italians he was even losing out on headers <deleted>.....what is the point of playing him at all I'm wondering?

Maybe today 'Arry will see the light I just wonder if he's going to play two up front anainst Everton or go for a much preferred attacking midfield option. Atv least VDV will bang in a goal or two and Bale....well....:D

Not sure if Bale is playing today smoke, could be rested along with Hudd ;) and perhaps Jenas.

If VDV plays where does Mod play ? who makes way for Palicious ?

Hopefully Pav for lanky <deleted>

Perhaps Bale at left back and told to slow down abit :o , the choices are endless :D .

Lets just hope the paddy ain't playing :(

Most of the choices are based around the midfield......some tough choices at that. I hope Bale plays in the same way as I always enjoyed watching Ronaldo.....pure class the laddie.

Even tougher choices up front though for different reasons......how long till Defoe returns??

More points thrown away.

How many chances exactly does Croutch need to score? We have three fit forwards and it seems Pavlyuchenko is the only one that can score so why did'nt he start. I'm totally pissed off with Croutch messing up chance after chance. Embarrassing at times.

How badly do we need and centre back and a striker?

Why was Billy playing, as he is totally knackered?

What was Bale doing on the right you ask smokie. Who knows!!! I'd like to be able to put a few questions to Harry. Perhaps it would have been better to rest him anyway. Neville did a very good job on him i thought.

What exactly does the in form Nico Krancjar have to do to get a game?

I thought Modric played well but at the end of the day he just does'nt score goals. Thats what we need now what with our goal shy forwards and Krancjar is the better option.

Just my thoughts.......

So chaps, who are we going to buy in January to help us score some goals. I want Benzema but have a horrible feeling Man Utd might scupper this one when they off load potatoe head.

Luis Fabiano will probably string us along like he did before and even at his age will cost a packet.

I'd love to get Suarez but it just won't happen

Whoever it is they must be able to play upfront on their own.

If we don't get someone top quality we won't make the top four which means we'd have to settle for winning the CL. :ermm::o So, realistically, who do you think?

Defoe back in three weeks. Which could'nt come sooner. I'd rather bring back Martin Chivers than play Crouch.....

I've edited this because i will also add Clive Allen to this. Bloke was sitting on our bench, he's on the firm and could have played, and i'm telling you, he would have taken one of those chances.

F_uck me i'll edit again...i could have taken one of those chances!!!!!!!!!!

I've no idea who we might sign carmine but players tend to be more expensive in January anyway. I fear we're stuck with what we got until the summer.

A scary thought if Defoe suffers another injury....

As savvy as Levy is in the transfer market he screwed up not getting someone by August. He knows that he will have to pay a premium in January because we HAVE to get get a quality striker. Theres too much too lose if we don't. Keane and Croutch are so poor right now they are becoming irrelevent.

Harry should have started with Pav and i think he would have converted one of the chances but thats old news now.

How many league goals have our strikers scored now? One in eight?!!

He's a bloody crutch as we all know get the chequebook out ......Suarez is possible forget that Fabiano nonsense......or maybe 'Arry has a youngster to bring in.....who knows?

Anyone would be better than crutchie I agree even yerself! :ermm::lol:

I was likened to Van Basten in my younger days :D Anyways, whats the point in Crouthie hanging around in the penalty box dusting down the clouds. He cant shoot, and is getting out jumped :ermm: As for Keane.....:whistling:

Keane couldn't even do the business in the Scottish league and that tells you all you need to know. Offload the pair of 'em to a chapmionship side....maybe the scammers or the scousers and bring in carmine.

How many goals did you average a season by the way?.......upload a video for us to have a look mate.....:whistling:

No more than £60k a week mind!

:D

EDIT: I was more of a Davie Cooper myself just with less skill and pace.....mind you I have a better cross than Lennon not difficult though I suppose.

It was more like how many seasons did i average a goal.

I honestly think that we should offload two and bring in one "quality" striker, with a good fitness record. (That is paramount because even if we could get the likes of Torres i would'nt want him for his injury record alone) Three would be enough on that basis. Defoe/Pav/a nother. We will need to fund his no doubt exorbitant wages so getting rid of two would be practicle.

At the end of the day its still a case of have we got enough "pull" to attract a world class striker?

simple answer to that is and i mean this in all honesty, qualify for the next stage of the champions league and you will with out a doubt have some interested parties.

not that they will be able to play in it of course, but it sends out a statement to players that your club is in actual fact going somewhere and is serious about the future.

unfortunately with the likes of levy and arry at the realm pulling the strings i fear you may may know the answer to your own question.

You mention fitness and wages and these are two of the main reasons I would like to see a younger striker brought in. Forget the superstar tags and get someone hungry to bang in 30 goals a season. ;)

I'm not sure about the superstar tag but a 30 goal a season striker will cost a lot.

I could see a potentially nice link up between VDV and Benzema and if you're wanting us to buy a young striker, he's only 23.

Benzema is currently on £170k a week. No doubt both he and his agent will have been watching the Rooney episode with interest.

Need I say more? Ah fuc_k it just buy potato head in January.....SAF would love to sell him to us.....

Whatever Levy does i just pray he does'nt cop out and buy another slightly above average premier league forward. Thats my main concern.

Have any of you been reading the remarks by Damien Comelli. He's becoming more and more frquent in his press conferences laying claim to being the real reason for Tottenhams top four finish. i don't know who i find more irritating; Comolli and his i built the team or Harry "when i joined them they only had two points from eight games" Rednapp.

The point I'm making is that we will have to break the wage structure to move forward. Certainly if we want to do it quickly. The only other way to do this is bringing through quality youth players which aint happening in a month of Sundays.

I'd love to see Benzema at the Lane......partnering Suarez as Defoe sulks on the bench.

Perfect.

If the player is world class its more justifiable breaking the wage structure. Anyways, Benzema won't be expecting to get paid that elsewhere. Joining Madrid is same as a F1 driver joining Ferrari. He cut his wages for a five year contract and to play regular football which he isn't at the moment.

Thats it Tigerfish. Stay in touch on our thread. I want you to be around to bare witness to the power shift in north London this season.

Incidentally, we have'nt heard much from the Arse thread recently. Is it yet to awaken? :D

A lot may depend on how the next three Champions league games pan out. If we make the second round there will be another large pot of cash to spend......and it could go on a top strikers wages. I for sure hope so or we might see Carlton Cole or the dreaded Heskey appear....! :ermm:

On to our defence and its clear Gomes has little confidence in any of the players out there yesterday. Sure the first choice central defenders are quality but its got to be sorted out soon. And from scratch.

Sure, getting through to the knockout stages will help a great deal in our quest for a striker.

One of the main problems with our defence, as i see it, is the lack of continuity. How can the players build an understanding. The best two CB's, when fit  are Woodgate and King. Both i believe are 30 now. How long can we keep switching players to accomodate Ledley when he can play. Secondly, the minor injuries are getting more and more frequent because he can't train. It will be January before we even know whether Woodgate will play again. Gallas looks a shadow of the player he once was.

Cant wait for Dawson to get back then we are back to a Dawson plus another situation. He has an understanding with King already, and then presumably Harry will switch between Gallas and Kaboul, who is improving a lot.

If Woodgate isn't in the squad come January its pension time and buy a replacement. The bigger problem is at left back. Sell the muppet for sure but who to bring in? I haven't a clue!

Agreed. I cannot understand playing Crouch when a fit Pav is sitting on the bench. He is the goal scorer afterall. It does'nt make sense.

Given the amount of chances we created and crosses into the box etc crutchie should be playing in the reserves for the next couple of months before being shown the exit. No more excuses.
