What is the purpose of a Yellow book?

Recommended Posts

Simple rule:

If your Amphur will give it to you with a minimum of fuss go for it

If your Amphur makes you jump through hoops like having your passport translated into Thai, or providing your parents birth certificates, or your village head vouching for you, or having two witnesses show up, then give it a pass

It requires a lot of running around and it is not cheap !!!!!!!!

When you have it you may be taken a little more serious and those circumstances will come on your way, garanteed.

it was not cheap ??

I paid less than 100,- thb

how much you would pay in your country ??

Its pretty cheap it didn't cost me a single baht lot of running around back and forth though.

I think if i read these posts what its actually good for i would not have bothered with it however my wife pushed me to get it (must be good for something that us falangs don't know about)

Yellow book is handy for proof of address and while it is so cheap and simple to get one I thought I might as well have it.

Simple in Khon Kaen anyway.wink.png

The head of the amphur where I live doesn't like Farangs and has previously refused to issue them.

Last time I checked (about 2 years) we stopped at the office and asked in there. We were told that we had to marry first and they might consider it.

I haven't bothered so far.
