chingmai331 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Need to have a second hand book sent to CM from the UK. Is this a dependable service and any import duties to pay on old, low value books?
worgeordie Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Just had a mini pc delivered from the UK,yesterday, just ordinary air mail, took just over a week, you can get the book sent registered and then you will be able to track it,if needed, never have any problems with mail from UK,over the years. regards Worgeordie PS there will be no custom charges on a book.
masuk Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 I had a few books, new and old sent from Amazon in the UK. Arrived in the forecast time, no problems, no duty. I even got an oldie about Chiang Mai called 'Teak Wallah". Fascinating stories about logging teak and floating it down the Ping river.
Suradit69 Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Often get books sent from Amazon and occasionally from used book dealers in UK or USA using the post office ... along with literally hundreds of things from Europe, China, Japan, Australia, etc. Never had anything go missing. I don't think you need to have it sent by registered mail unless it's especially valuable. There is no duty on books. new or used.

We've never had a problem in the past BUT!!! We are still waiting on a Christmas Card posted to us in CNX from Perth, Western Australia in the first week of December 2014. Of more concern, is the Paperwork for the renewal of my Australian MDL. This is "time critical" and needs to be returned, signed, witnessed and with new Photographs or I could be faced with having to apply for the whole thing, next time I visit Australia. At the age of 70, having to do a whole new Examination etc., is not a delightful prospect. So...Please THAI POST, get your act together!
