Here in Thailand they have the Snitch System and in many cases

you'll be turned in to the police by someone that is not happy with

you.

You will even need a visa if you work as a volunteer here in Thailand,

too.

Op. I will tell you what you want to hear since you obviously aren't taking the advice from the TV memebers. It is perfectly legal in Thailand and any other country on Earth to work without a work permit at any job so long as after you have worked your job for a minimum of one month you must take your paystub into the nearest immigration office and show it to them.

That is the best advice in this thread so far.

You forgot to mention that he'll even get free accommodation and food from the Thai government until his departure from Thailand.

Now, assuming that this Zeus *does* have a WP, and this whole thread is just a PR gimmick, you might be right.

All the people I have known caught working without a work permit were out of the police station within a few hours after money (usually from their employer) changed hands.

I also recall a tv show on Thai morning TV (going back 15 years here) in which farang English teachers were used and the majority had no work permits.

As some earlier posters have said, if you feel lucky, you can take a chance. You've gotta ask yourself one question: "Do I feel lucky?" Well, do ya, punk OP?

Yes, but this doesn't mean that the people caught working without a work permit were able to continue to do so. Here in Chiang Mai, I'm aware of cases where people were caught working without a work permit and they were given seven days to leave the country. Sure, they could apply for a tourist visa elsewhere to return, but they weren't interested in "touring Thailand". They wanted to work and their employer hadn't made the proper arrangements for a work permit.

I think the OP is being rather naive to expect to work " under the radar" as a personal trainer. In order to succeed in this profession, he's going to have to advertise his services, maybe not on television, but perhaps thru Facebook or other social media -- even just word of mouth at the fitness center. This is a field well served by Thai trainers, some of whom have good English language skills and rapport with foreigners. He's going to come to the notice of a Thai trainer and get ratted out to Immigration or the Labor Dept.

This isn't like writing books for sale on Amazon from the privacy of your guesthouse room on the internet. The OP is proposing to work IN Thailand for clients who could be served by a Thai person.

Well NacyL this is Pattaya and not Chiang mai so I wont be stepping on any thai personal trainers toes as the only thai trainers in Pattaya are just mauy thai trainers not personal trainers!

Secondly I just have to open up a second account for advertising my personal training business similar to Zeus Thunderbolt

Just because your a personal trainer does make you a steriod user, just because a few people dont know about nutrition, diet and training and are jelous that your in good shape through the hard yards.

The most likely cause of you being pulled in to the police station will be that somebody at the gym where you plan to do your personal training doesn't like you because

1. They don't like you.

2. You are taking their business.

3. They plan to take your business.

4. You are dealing in PED's.

However, as you say, many have either kept under the radar or have important Thai friends to protect them and work without a WP for a long time.
