australian holiday visa wait times ?

Featured Replies

Hi blokes,

l am currently doing online holiday visa for my partners sister. we are hoping for six months. my partner and me both work in australia. my partner is on a bridging visa to become a resident. we have a 20 month old boy who has aussie citizenship. she is coming for holiday and to babysit for us. we live in small outback town and it is hard to get baby daycare. so l was wondering how long it takes online. govt says 1 month but we are hoping maybe 2 weeks as we are going there soon and would like her to come back with us.

cheers for any reply

My GFs visas were 3 mths done in 2 days, 6 mths done in 5 days (medical needed) and 3 mths in 8 hours. We submitted very thorough support documents.

Hi Dave

Firstly, if you mention she is coming to do babysitting you may well find the visa is refused as this is work, even if done for free so be careful!

You can apply with VFS or online through http://immi.gov.au

Once the visa is actually lodged with the Aussie Embassy it is normally done within 10 business days - but as mentioned above they are actually pretty efficient in Bangkok and as long as you have all supporting docs will be well inside those limits.
