Many Thank

Chris

Hi Chris, a few ideas for you :

TV has a fishing sub-forum with info , try Hatthai fishing shop (opposite side to Tesco On Nut and a few minutes walk towards Bang Na direction) they can help with suggestions and finally, Bangkok Hooker Fishing has a decent site with most major ponds described and with directions. Have fun.

Sorry if this breaks any forum rules:

My favorite is Pilot 111, out the Bang Na Trad toward Pattaya. It's impossible to describe exactly how to get there as it involves U-Turns and some dodgy driving. But well worth finding for the great fishing, nice people, and decent food. Takes me 45 minutes driving from my home around Asoke. And I drive very slowly in local terms.

Given the general level of environmental pollution in and around Bangkok, you'd have to be crazy to want to eat ANY fish caught in ANY lake, canal or other watercourse in the area, or for that matter from close to the mouth of the Chao Phraya river.

Bear in mind that if you eat one of those fried and often salted fish they sell on street, it's caught in a similar polluted place. Then it gets an extra dose of car fumes pollution to add extra flavour. This is why I never eat street food in Bangkok. It's toxic in the extreme.
