Trust the junta not to hog power, says Prayut

Featured Replies

A classic group photograph of a junta!

A couple of them look like members of the Addams Family, no names no pack drill and no forum suspension, I hope. :D

On reflection, don't they all look like they're mainlining immodium?

Thanks to this General Bangkok is a much safer place to live or be on holiday. The pavements are being cleared, corruption stopped, police reformed, no more fighting protestors, no more roadblocks.

Keep it up General, we are happy with you here in the city.

He looks like he's begging. He also looks like a deer in the headlights. This man is so far out of his realm that he's lost.

I think this horse has already left the barn.

If there is one thing Thai people should have learned by now is that no one in a position of power tells the truth and once they have any power they tend to like to keep a tight grip on it for as long as possible by any means possible

This is true throughout the world. Birds of a feather flock together. Voters are deliberately left with little to chose from at election time. You need money to run so this leaves the good prospects by the wayside. We are like cattle running down a narrow cattle shute at the slaughter house. It has taken 77 years for my eyes to be truly opened. I have watched the manipulation of people over this time and it has been truly sickening. Politics is much like the pollution outside my condo window here in Chiang Mai. Its dirty smelly hurts my chest and seems like it will never cease and nobody cares.

As none of you ever trusted anybody in your lives, I don't expect that you will trust the Prime Minister either.

Not that it matters, as we have no impact on Thai politics, so we can blabber as long as we like without any effect.

But, just think back.

Has he ever promised something and he hasn't delivered or he is in the process of delivering?

Has he ever lied to his people?

OK he comes up with some funny statements, sometimes, but that doesn't diminish the integrity of the man.

About time you all start believing in him and stop mocking him.

He is the best that ever happened to Thailand.

Yes he lied to his people, Yes he promised something that he did not deliver.

NO COUP

NO Prime minister are two lies and promises.

For Thai economy he is the worst thing that happened to Thailand !

Are you on his payroll so you have to state this BS in every comment you write ?

I feel they dissasembled the brakes, but could not find new ones;

On the other hand on many things

( corruption, official, police )

he gave up already to suceed in any change in this country;

( just look on any other beach than Phuket )

How a Prim can be better than the citicens ?

born with them, growing up with them , ..............

learned from them ...............

Trust the junta not to hog power, says Prayut

This is a revealing statement in that Prayut admits that the NCPO will KEEP power after formation of a new government, just not all of the power it currently holds.

But considering the constitutional, legislative, and judicial constraints the NCPO and its clones are crafting in the formation of a new government, I have to wonder eactly what power would be left to an elected government? It seems only the "power" to be elected will be granted to the Thai people. The NCPO will still retain sovereign power over Thais. The NCPO will determine at any one time the extent it is willing to grant rights and liberties to Thais. Indeed, the NCPO will effectively choke off any future democratic evolution in Thailand and essentially create a one-party system more in common with communist countries.

Thank you General Prayut for your honesty.

so you would prefer Jatuporn drafts the Constitution ? 55555555555555555555555

Of course they won't hog power. They are a means to an end, a means to ensure the puppet masters have unbreakable strings. Like Ann Richards quipped "Ya dance with the one whut brung ya". Those who imply clean beaches or streets are signs of a vibrant government responsive to the general population..... or any other superficial "fix", have lost any credibility regarding what comprises good government.

Woody Allen called from Broadway, they're looking for a drama queen, are you up for it?

Bangkok in very small isolated areas where tourists and expats alike were warned to stay clear of "just in case"

You've obviously never been to Glasgow wearing an England top if you though Bangkok was a scary place to be!!!

I went with my son and his girlfriend in and around Bangkok at their height of the protests and it didn't feel different to the previous year, or the year before that, but that's just me, nobody looked at you as a threat, nobody seemed skittish or were out panic buying and sticking up for a war either.

Give Woody a call mate, there always slots opening for drama queens ?

I think that person is a marionet of the army/ hiso/elite and they make it look like he is the boss

Look at the picture and then just trust them. Is the driver of the Thailand car wearing a seatbelt? laugh.png

Trust Thai drivers...hmmm, that's a tough one. Drive the country like Thais drive cars... Yep that should work, for about a minute!

Ignorance is indeed bliss !! But yep, most places are better than England these days, that's why so many farangs have left to live here ?

It wouldn't bother ME where I lived in Thailand Issan or the South, makes no odds really, I can take care of myself ?

It seems to me that there is no reason to "hog power"...the power has already been "hogged" and divvied up among the Military elite...wai2.gif

Must be an odd feeling - I mean, despising so many of your own countrymen.

Of course they won't hog power.

They will parcel it out to the appropriate people when the time comes.

Mind you, they will decide when that time is, and who are the appropriate people.

That's been the problem for years and what brought the shins to power. It has always been about Bangkok and the ruling elite. What people have to realise is that Thailand extends beyond Bangkok. Whilst they are making thier own home beautiful they are holding the rest of Thailand by the nuts and they squeeze if they ask what about me.

Funny how Thaksin got rich because of the corruption at TOT. (This elite crowd controls the 56 State run companies and they rape the budgets)

20 years ago, the elite that controlled the TOT were holding people hostage. You want a phone line? Well pay sucker or wait a few years...

Thaksin then started the mobile business and was soon a billionaire. I dated his secretary and she told me he started business with a 1 million baht loan and began selling radios to the Bang Sue police and business took off from there.

The banker that took the risk and loaned him the startup funds was rewarded handsomely with a board position at AIS.

He even launched Thailand first satellite in 1994. Years before he got into politics.

Forbes had him on the richest list long before he became PM.

Jatuporn never offered to rewrite the Constitution. One day it might happen and the military may find itself accountable to an elected civilian government.

Seems to work in the developed world.

It even has made a difference in developing countries. The countries who reined in the military have become functional states. Need some examples? Costa Rica, Chile, Paraguay, Uruguay, South Africa, Columbia etc.
