Pattaya, Chon Buri:- A 25-year-old Dutchman went berserk in Pattaya late Friday night, allegedly damaging properties of a restaurant and a hotel and hurting a policeman and several Thais.

The injured policeman had to call for a reinforcement of 20 police officers who overpowered Dennis Tagga shortly after 0:30 am Saturday. He was taken to the Pattaya police station to calm down.

Pol Senior Sgt Maj Sarayut Saengphet, a traffic policeman of the Pattaya station, called for a backup at 0:30 am after he could not control the situation.

Sarayut was directing the traffic on Pattaya 2nd Road in front of Soi 8 when he spotted Tagga, who appeared drunk, crying foul and trying to hurt others.

Tagga, who was wearing only sports shorts, would not allow anyone to come near him and ran after anyone who came closer.

Before Sarayut called for a backup, he saw Tagga throwing tables and chairs of the Aroi Dee restaurant. Sarayut tried to arrest the Dutch tourist but he resisted and hit him once the mouth.

After Tagga trying to snatch his pistol, Sarayut decided to call for help.

Yaowathida Jantho, a waitress of the restaurant, said Tagga, who appeared drunk, came into the shop and sat silently. She said the man refused to make any order and he went berserk five minutes later.

Later, Sanong Boonpanya, 60, the manager of The Green Hotel, told police that that Tagga stayed at his hotel.

Sanong said Tagga earlier became angry and damaged several things in his hotel room before jumping from the third floor. He was not hurt because he landed on sandy and soft ground. The hotel tried to calm him down but he left before he went berserk at the restaurant.

So this is what they mean by 'Dutch courage' ?

20 cops to subdue one guy - <deleted> is going on with that ? Little wonder they made themselves very scarce when Tim Ward launched his offensive on the Soi 9 cop shop a month or two back.

Ya, and I bet I know just what he was doing about about 10 minutes later..just hope he didn't damage the 41 kilo worker..

Signed,

Twice a day indeed..

This Copper is the reason I have never had a problem with Thai Cops, as with nearly all Thai,s I,ve met, they are really cool and taking it easy. on the idiot box lately in the US, he would have been shot dead, roi percent.

A story about a Dutch & Thai and you gotta throw the U.S. under the bus! More likely he would've been cut off at the bar many drinks ago or been sent home in a Uber car in the states. Cops don't shoot white people in the U.S. Pay attention to history and the idiot box better. 555

Agreed he would have been arrested a lot sooner for less. Being intoxicated (on anything) in public is a crime.

Tagga is NOT a common Dutch last name !

Has he been drinking Chang instead of Heineken?

No it is not.. but are we going to act as if there are no Dutch idiots in the world. Defend our country by stating this is an import Dutch guy or whatever.

Be sensible.. we as Dutch have plenty of idiots and criminals back home even common Dutch ones.

I had hoped fellow Dutch would be less flag waving and in denial. I was wrong.

This is one lucky Dutchman.

He could have be shot dead by the policeman when he tried to snatch the policeman's weapon. Kudos tot the BiB for showing restraint. If I had tried that stunt in my home country the odds are good I'd be in the morgue right now.

This must be cowboy land U.S. right ?, lucky that other countries have civilized cops ..
