Irish Citizen In Spain

Featured Replies

• Please note that a foreign national does not automatically acquire Irish nationality through marriage to an Irish national.

• If you are marrying a Thai national, he or she will require a visa to visit or settle in Ireland .

im an irish citizen recently moved to spain im wondering does this affect my applying for a family permit in spain for my wife?

i wont have residencia or a contract there for work.

open a company in Spain on that ground apply for a residency. I think spanish consulate is less fussy than irish one - but still you need to bring your any bank statements.

Ireland is a member of the EEC countries; of course that doesn't make your wife an Irish citizen but it certainly isn't a problem to travel with her to Spain, at least as she is with you in Ireland or other EEC country.

If she has an EEC Visa it shouldn't be a problem; if she is still in Thailand it might be better to have an EEC Visa first (applied by you+her from Ireland)*; she's free to travel within the EEC countries than.

* wich would be much easier than done from within Spain, I think.
