It is good news as I was told that the big monopolies on the beer here were blocking it going to 7/11 and other stores. It is a shame really as I would love to see it on draft. With the ASEAN trade ag

was only 50b a bottle when it came out in pattaya - i've not checked recently - maybe 55b for the dark one before as well

Its nice but too expensive 56 baht for a small bottle

box of dark at Makro last time I looked was about 1000 baht

56 baht per bottle

Thanks for the info, I purchase by the box (24) from Makro for 1.145 Baht per box. At times its a hit or miss as its a fast mover.

I will check my local SE store as its handy for a back up.

SE store?

How many in a box/carton 24?

1000 baht divided by 24 is about 42 baht

too dangerous to have more than one or two lying around the house however

SE I suppose = Seven Eleven

24 small bottles in a box from Makro.

when I say too expensive I mean if I buy a box I just can't help dinking the bloody stuff so it gets expensive.

Not seen it in any Bkk 7/11 how anyone can drink Leo I can't understand, you'd have to be drunk first.

being an aussie i love beer, beer lao dark is just about asias best imho.

but i wait to go laos to drink it, leo is ok, just look at the leo calendar, 4 parts issan, 8 parts central.

love leo, but give me laos price for beer lao, i am a traitor, just a beer slag.

Not really Asian is it? thought it was run by carlesberg since it set up there in about 1974

6.5% ? I thought the latest limit was 6%.

I agree this is a good beer as an alternative to the expensive imported draft beer that I love so much . I am drinking my favourite right now, Well's waggle dance. It's 148 baht per bottle so I don't drink much for that price.

So will visit Makro soon and look for the 24 pack.

It is good news as I was told that the big monopolies on the beer here were blocking it going to 7/11 and other stores. It is a shame really as I would love to see it on draft. With the ASEAN trade agreement I thought it would be easy. It would certainly knock the crap they serve at present here in Thailand from the local beers. No wonder the breweries are ensuring it doesn't get here.

In Petchabun,anyone know?

Close enough to Lao you might as well go and drink it there!

About a year and a half ago the gentleman the owns 7-11 bought Makro, so it is no surprise to see Lao moving from Makro to the 7-11 stores. All alcohol is charged by the Thai government a tax that is based on the alcohol content. This was one reason for Chang to reduce their 6% beer to 5% a year ago. With Lao at 6.5%, it is going to cost more simply because of the extra tax imposed on it. Wines are taxed that same way, based on alcohol content.

chang went from 6.4 to 6. How come lao khow at 40% is so cheap, maybe to keep the workers docile?

6.5% ? I thought the latest limit was 6%.

Cheers Red is 6.5.

it is and cheaper than chang, red horse is a strong one too

Rubbing alcohol is the strongest.

Used to buy it at Tops for 65 baht a bottle

until the lady at Tops told me about the

Makro price, the downer being you can

only buy it by the case at 1,000 baht plus

a go.

And as I tell the missus, once a case has been

opened it has to be consumed within two days.

why did sigha go down to 500 mil bottles?, lots I know gave up on it after. Lao is not a bad price in Villa, 59 I think now.
