To apply for the extension of stay after getting the non-o visa the account will need to be your name only.

They probably would do the non-o visa in Vientiane with a joint account.

Nothing more is needed than you bank book plus a copy and your passport to get the visa.

Not sure what you got your non-o based upon. The 400k baht number is for getting an extension of stay based upon marriage which Vientiane does not ask to see to get a non-o for that.

They will want to see 800k baht in the bank for a non-o based upon being 50 or over for retirement.

I have never done this trip before - can you recommend a decent guest house close to the Thai Consulate for a couple of nights (should be enough time I guess).

Can I get a visa on entry at the airport and use Thai Baht for any expenses, hotel food visa etc?
