UK Premier David Cameron rules out 3rd term in office

LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister David Cameron says he will serve a full second term if he's re-elected in May — but he won't seek a third.

Cameron told the BBC Monday that it would be "time for new leadership" after a second five-year stint.

He joked that "terms are like Shredded Wheat: two are wonderful but three might just be too many."

Cameron's predecessor, Tony Blair, governed for 10 years, stepping down midway through his third term.

Cameron has been prime minister since 2010 as the head of a Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition government. His Conservatives hope to win a majority on May 7, but polls suggest another coalition is the most likely outcome.

Cameron named Home Secretary Theresa May, Treasury chief George Osborne and London Mayor Boris Johnson as possible successors.

His pockets have always been very well lined. His wife's are even more well lined.

Nice to see a PM whose so in touch with the people.

Successors - the lunatic Johnson, the disaster May or another old Etonian Oxbridge hooray henry with lined pockets Osborne. Great choices "Dave".

Anyway black dwarf Salmond thinks he'd gonna be some kind of pivotal power broker to Nerd Milliband and Ed Balls-up.

What a state of affairs.

The alternative to DC is to dire to think about. At least the country is booming with unemployment low and very favorable taxes compared to the rest of Europe, where most countries are struggling badly

Anyone that wants Labor in after the last time is crazy, and to vote UKIP is just a waste they will barely win 3 seats, but give the keys to Downing street to Red Ed though the back door

Even his own peers call him that.

Lord Prescott, the former deputy prime minister, has referred to Labour Leader Ed Miliband as "Red Ed," during an interview with the BBC.

The peer appeared to use the nickname, usually deployed by Mr Miliband's enemies rather than his friends, while stumbling over his words as he discussed the issue of English votes for English laws.

During an appearance on Radio 4's Today Programme, as he called for an English Parliament, he appeared to say: "Whether we actually have economic powers and resources ... is a debate and a discussion, and that's why Red Ed is right to have a commission to look into it."

... frankly there is no Great in Great Britain and it's not going to get any better

Unless the lands of England, Scotland and Wales has disappeared off the face of the Earth there will always be a Great in Great Britain: that's because it refers not to status but to the largest (greater) of the British Isles.

Looks like Alex Salmond is reverting to type and doing his best to ensure that Cameron doesn't win a 2nd term, never mind a 3rd term.

The guy was never going to retire gracefully after his Independence vote defeat. Now, bitter and twisted, he is set on a course to cause chaos in Westminster as a way of getting back at those he reckons were the cause of his humiliation. This, despite the likelihood that the divisive tactics and bully boy antics of him and his hard core supporters were the main cause of his own downfall.

Should be an interesting period up to the election date, and probably even more so in the aftermath.
