Always available at Makro nowadays, 1100B for a case, light and dark. If only someone imported the large bottles.

Saw the regular Beer Lao in a 711 in Bangkok a couple of weeks back. Boon Rawd eat your heart out.

Noticed that there is only one distributor for Lao Beer and it is in Samut Prakarn. They have big distribution problems. It is 25 Baht per bottle at restaurants in Lao.

Welcome to Thailand's absurd protectionist tariff system.

At the various supermarkets in BKK, the regular Beer Lao generally sells for about 50-55 baht, while the dark usually is 5-10 baht higher, in the 60-65 baht range.

If you want a treat try and find Beer Lao Gold - superb !

I think you'll find it's Beer Laos not wanting their primary market swamped with cheap Thai beer, but don't let the facts get in the way of spouting nonsense.

My comment is in reference to the fact that Beer Lao costs 3X as much in Thailand as it does in Laos. That is due to import duty, excise tax, and VAT levied by the Thai government. (I had presumed that posters with rudimentary education would be able to infer that from the post - as it was directed at a bolded sentence pertaining to price - but perhaps I was mistaken.)

I gladly will pay extra taxes vat and whatever for a good beer. Let the decent beers roll in.

How much of the cost BS will go away at the end of the year when ASEAN kicks in. Seeing is believing that Thailand will cease cheating and abide by the rules.<script type='text/javascript'>window.mod_pagespeed_start = Number(new Date());</script>
