Help needed to locate "the store" in Bangkok.?

So my friend gave me a description of the store i am possible looking for. However its been a long time since he was there so this thread is to locate "the store". This seems impossible but i really appreciate those who could help.

Here is the description.

--He's description of the store was a family business ran by a husband and wife with several children (around the age of 30).
--Sometimes opened for 24 hrs during peak season ( valentines ).
--The store is located is next to the road ( not in a mall ) and stuff toys are displayed outside (ie. Taken in when it rains ).
--The store is more than 2 stories high ( 3 or 4 ) and next to some nearby restaurants.
--The store sells plushies like rilakkuma,.etc (
SOFT TOYS )
--This may not be relevant but a "Ms.Kath" (not sure if thts the full name lol) works there.

This seems really hard but thanks so much. ( appreciate it a lot )
It will be extremly extremly helpful if someone could provide possible names of stores ( or email ) so i can check it out myself. Thanks a lot.

*Not so relavent ( not 100% sure ): The store is located around (Krung Thep Maha Nakhon) - not too sure so this is not a must have description*

Currently it means an incredible amount to me that I locate this store. ( It's a very important family thing ) but I have very few leads on this place which brings me to the forums. This reply is actually to BUMP my post but it is also for me to thank people who have ideas on a possible store or at least read this post. Thanks.

Krung Thep Maha Nakhon is simply the Thai name for what we call Bangkok. Doesn't narrow it down much.

You may not be aware but the area of your map location is not near any normal shopping streets that most people would come into contact - unless living in the area. Most tourists would never even travel into that area except when travelling to the South.

Looking at a total needle in a haystack situation. This one is in the Nong Khaem area (that you'd marked on the map)-

http://www.ruunlamalila.com/

Is it a specific toy you're looking for or a person that works there..?

It's actually the person who works there because it just so happens that all the leads i have is about a family buisness soft toy shop. I know that its like a needle in a haystack ( even worse i think - mythbusters tested needle in a haystack lol ) but on a serious note it means a lot. It is no easy task but as long as google is available i'll try to search for it.

What i am actually looking for are like possible stores which people have been to so that I can contact the stores and ask them directly. I cant express how much i appreciate help in this ( even if it is just replies on a thread ).

I'll keep that in mind and try to find a more accurate location. Thanks

I just wanna say one more thing. Its only been like 1hr:40 min and although i contributed to like 50 views another 100 have viewed this post and have not seen this store. Meaning another 100 pair of eyes or even 50 are helping out (much more than i can do alone). Which is why I am so grateful.

If only google maps can be used to show places where the shop is not located then if some guy on the forum has been to that place we can always cross it out.

Sorry if i sound too dramatic.

You might want to make use of Google Street View as they do have very good coverage in Bangkok and might even be able to see such a shophouse if you can get location down a bit better - perhaps using restaurants as a key.

Must ask if this is an assignment in your university class by chance?

Not really but it would be cool lol. Using like google to selectively chop out parts of bangkok which do not have potential.

Your friend perhaps? Unless he was really, really out of it he should have more information that what you seem to have received. The use of Thai name for Bangkok rather than at least a local area seems very strange. Also unless your information is recent things could have changed greatly as such stores often do not have a long life (or may change).

I would Google items you believe sold and try to find leads to various addresses in Bangkok and work from that if nothing else available.

Alright, I can vouch that the information is more or less reliable however he doesnt know where to start so i think my best bet is to google certain products and to wait for someone to name a shop on this thread and check it out.

Here is a starter based on Bangkok and what you say is sold - only 280,000 results in 1/2 second.

https://www.google.com/search?q=rilakkuma&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&gws_rd=ssl#q=rilakkuma+shop+bangkok

Lol. Welp I found out that they also sell the ***San - X series.*** I guess thts a bonus. One step closer. So i guess the biggest hint would be a San-X series distributor (whole sale aswell) whose store is not in a giant shopping complex.

If you're looking for a Thai in a non-touristy low-farang-density area, you'll probably be better off in a Thai forum like pantip.com rather than a farang one like TV. Obviously, you'll need help from a Thai to put out a posting and sort through the replies. But, if it means a lot to you as you say, this way you'd likely turn up credible clues rather quickly. Good luck.

Thanks but I don't believe i know anyone who speaks fluent thai so that will be a problem.

Are you in the States? There are Thai students at even the smallest university campuses. Look up the directory for a Thai Student Assoc. Even if there's none listed, the SU could put you in touch with a Thai student (that's how I found my tutor when I lived there).

A Thai student would probably be delighted to help you out. And for sure being away, s/he's on panitp.com all the time breathing in news from home.

A shot in the dark, but there was a store that somewhat fit the description at the intersection of Rama IV and Silom. It would be beneath the walkway that crosses Rama IV and connects to the Skytrain station.

I haven't been around there in a while, though.

Im not on the main campus so there are no thai societies on my campus however there are some in the main one so i'll try contacting them, until then it will be hard to find a proper translator

*Updated***

This is probably the closest and slightly more accurate description I am able to extort from my friend.

--Family business ran by a husband and wife with several children (around the age of 28ish).
--Opening hours are from monday to sunday ( everyday )
--Sometimes opened for 24 hrs during peak season ( valentines / Christmas ).

--The store sells
plushies such as rilakkuma, san - x, minions ( there are many more )
--Lots of stuff toys displayed outside (ie. Taken in when it rains ).
--The store is in front of a road (Not in a mall)
--The
interior walls of the store are light blue to blue ( valid for 2015 - 100% sure )
--The store also sells
wholesale insted of just retail.

** Below are facts which are not 100% sure but more like 80?

--The store is more than 2 stories high ( 3 or 4 ) and next to some nearby restaurants.
--The store is AROUND ( may not be like really close but it is not too far (meaning a 1-15 min drive radius) ) - Siam Paragon and Central

--This may not be relevant but a "Ms.Kath" (not sure if thts the full name lol) works there.

Thanks a lot.

That is the busy area of city so it must be very close if only a few minutes in taxi. I have not been in that area for many years but suspect I would start my search on Petchaburi Road as that is the cheap clothing/wholesale area now.

It could be 15 min by car so thts a fair distance but it is much smaller than when this thread started. I think the confirming feature would be the blue walls and white shelves or the workers since these minor details are important.

As much as I want to go there myself and check it out, I think I need to wait for people to go there who have their eyes out so i could get a name of a shop and possible a way to contact (email). Google Street View isnt as helpful to someone who is very foreign to Bangkok. Like the guy in page 1.
