Prayut criticises TV channel for using women in mini skirts as selling point

One may be excused to wonder why a previous Prime Minister who was really into equal right for women and dignity for women, didn't notice this issue.

Probably to many other things to do rolleyes.gif

Had the former PM made the same comment, you and the misogynists of TVF would be along to call her fat and jealous etc.

The PM did speak out on the issue, but people like you ignored her because she was a "dumb broad".

Now the General speaks, so you should listen. He's right.

Is this a "strawbroad" argument?

Hey forget the mini skirts I just love the short shorts with their butt hanging out. Usually makes my day

so why not just ban fashion and we can go to a Thai Burka. This should settle the blood of these old fools who do the sensoring

Actually the other night I was watching TV and they censored a M. Angelo sculpture Give me a break Soon they will be putting

underwear on these art pieces. I accept sensor in daily life on TV but an art piece is going a bit too far.

I hope most see this is a very slippery slope here

Indeed. She was far too busy fighting human trafficking and bringing those responsible to justice; and ensuring the quality of life for the poor rose significantly thanks to her brilliant self funding, perhaps even profitable, rice pledging scheme. Chairing all these meetings must be time consuming.

All that had to be fitted in around those hard working foreign trips, doing the family shopping at Tesco, and helping little Johnnie boy with his Harrow homework.

She did instigate a reality program too you know. Specially for nice Thai young ladies who wanted to be like her.

She also noted she championed female equality and rights.

What a woman - even managed to write her FB page to all her devoted fans before retiring, and still looked pristine at every appearance.

So according to you a woman that wears a miniskirt has no dignity? No PM has the right to tell people what they must wear that is called individual choice which is part of individual freedom which is part of democracy.

Read again. I'm just saying Ms. Yingluck was really into equal rights and dignity for women, verbally that is.

As for individual choice, well those pretties do not really have a choice if they want to keep their job on television.

I agree that the PM should stay out of this, but even in the 'free' West we have government sponsored 'family value' promotion groups. At times the call for self-regulation seems to come from those who believe in "don't give a sucker an even break". Well democracy is more than one election every four years, democracy is also protection for the weak and oppressed.

This is nothing new! Sex sells, Maybe he should advertise the short skirts in Tourism, might bring more in the

tourist trade............Being realistic, if you were single which would you go for?......a painted umbrella, wood carved elephant, or a night with a gorgeous girl in a short dress?

One thing you can tell from all this is that his "advisors/sycophants" are all scared of him. I'm beginning to think that nobody says anything to him & just lets him go on his merry way, gaffe after gaffe after gaffe

One thing you can tell from all this is that some don't know what to write and just write some nonsense.

If his 'advisors / sycophants' are scared of him, they would be unlikely not to say anything to him, or just let him go on his way. They would do their best to be seen by him to be helping him.

Probably some are just annoyed that the PM is still there for all to see and hear.

Absolutely. Ms. Yingluck never ever said anything about Thai pretties in mini skirts used to sell things.

Although recently she does seem to agree with PM Prayut. From 2015-03-09

"She said violence against women was a matter of great concern, particularly sexual assault, as it had a physical and mental impact.

...

She reiterated that when in power she aimed to establish a strategy to reduce inequality of the sexes and promote women's power through the establishment of the Thai Women Empowerment Funds, which provided women with access to capital while creating opportunities to increase income and living conditions."

Oh diddums, don't her little fan club boys like it when someone makes fun of the former darling of Isaan?

The same bunch so famous for their "but, but, Suthep, the Dems............." routine.

Never mind, she'll probably be on FB again soon wondering what happened to her Nobel Prize nomination one of the clan waffled about.

Best tell France that too then.

There has to be regulations - but mini skirts are hardly pushing the boundaries.

Sex sells - and is used by advertising agencies to full advantage. Look at the racy bill board adverts as well as TV. The ones done with humor or really high quality are memorable.

Putting Pretties in TV shows has been around for a long time, and in theater shows before that. Interesting that whilst the Women's Libbers attack the beauty queen pageant competitions they never attack the shows that have lots of scantily clad women for decoration.

But, none of this should be a matter just for the PM to decide.

More probably, because it isn't an "issue".

Typically male speech.

You are correct, Prayut's criticism of how women dress and your support of it is definitely "typically male speech". Most of us understand that equal rights for women and dignity for women includes not telling women how they should dress themselves.

'my' defence of it?

You may have missed

BTW I doubt that the pretties on television dress the way they do because they have any say in how they dress.

RUBBISH of course they have a choice.

Hugh Heffner once said every woman wants to be desired by every man¨

Here we go ladies and gents, back to the 50's.

Some of you wanted this, be careful what you wish for.

I don't think you meant the 1950's though.

Why did you post a picture from the 1960s?

Well, because it's an interesting study of what, unless I am very much mistaken, looks like the tramway on Southend Pier.

Doesn't he have one or two slightly more pressing matters than what women wear on the telly? If not, he certainly should...

in his mind he does not anything more important then simple mind control over simple people. he wants to the sole authority of all. wait for it. ....sooner or later he will walk the walk that he talks about. that is the time to duck for the poop be hitting the fan :-)

I do not understand the current pseudo-moralistic witch hunt.

Thailand is a hot country and light clothing, such as mini skirts, flip flops and tops are still comfortable.

What should the girls wear instead?

Wool Socks, rubber boots, wool sweaters and ski pants?

Thailand should be proud of the beauty of their women and not try to criminalize them.

Oh come on... you must know the answer by now.....

His hero Pibun made it very clear....

Isn't part of women's rights to be able to wear what ever they like. If Yingluk had of banned the mini skirt to would have been attacked by many women's groups. The mini skirt has been around for 60 years it's nothing new. Maybe prayuth can add the mini to the bikini guide lines, only to be worn by fat ugly chicks.

Why would he talk about Birmingham like that.
