hmmm I don't remember paying VAT ... but since I am not on a tourist visa I wouldn't have been able to reclaim it anyways

Sure! Just remember you are expected to pull them out at the customs counter when showing the items - same w. boob jobs! Cheers!

(on a serious note; services performed here in Thailand can not have vat refunded. In THEORY one should be able to get vat refund on the actual implant-tooth, or boob :o, but in reality that does not happen for the obvious practical reasons - also - the items will be considered used at time of departure - again trickering no vat refund).
