Ya Nui Tsunami House Shell Demolished...

Featured Replies

Anybody who knew Leonie Cousens will know that the Ya Nui beach house (Phuket) that she perished in during 2005 tsunami has finally been demolished.

After more than a year and a half since the tragedy, the local Or Bor Tor decided to clear the graffiti-ridden site on one of the planet's most beautiful beaches.

God bless Leonie's soul!!! :o

Let's hope that the site will be dedicated to a public park rather than an impromptu car park or an extension of the scrap heap that the area is fast becoming....

A park would be nice, was there yesterday and now the shell is cleared it is quite a large area, a small park with a memorial would be nice

Yes, still so sad to think about Leonie - she did so much for the animals! Hope they do a public park there.

A park is a great idea. I think of her often. We got one of our dogs from her. She was a great lady with a wonderful sense of humour.

Just drove down to Yanui and sat in peace... soooo many stars, so beautiful! :D

Was quite bizarre, cos I had loads of questions for Leonie... and everytime I asked a question, the lightening struck out over the islands - kind of like, BIG-yes and little-YES style... I'm still shaking my head!

Thankyou Leonie... :o

I believe the land (and house) is owned by Mission Hospital. (I think it is anyway)
