Bangkok Authorities Issue Rabies Warning After Infected Animal Found in On Nut Area
Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has issued a public health alert following the discovery of a rabies-infected animal near the solid waste management center in Soi On Nut 86, Prawet District. Residents living within a 5-kilometre radius of the area, including communities in Saphan Sung Subdistrict (Saphan Sung District), Dok Mai Subdistrict (Prawet District), Phatthanakan Subdistrict (Suan Luang District), and Racha Thewa Subdistrict (Bang Phli District, Samut Prakan), are urged to exercise caution. The BMA advises residents to avoid any contact with stray animals in the affected areas. Individuals who are bitten or come into contact with animals suspected of carrying rabies should immediately wash wounds with soap and water and seek medical attention for post-exposure vaccination. Common signs of rabies in animals include restlessness, aggression, biting objects indiscriminately, stiffness, drooling, and tongue paralysis. The public is encouraged to report any sightings of dead animals or animals exhibiting these symptoms to the Prawet Animal Control and Shelter Group. DBD to Investigate 27,000 Thai Nominee Businesses in 2025
Picture courtesy: Siam Rath The Thai Department of Business Development (DBD) is set to investigate a staggering 27,000 juristic persons next year as part of its intensified crackdown on the use of Thai nominees by foreign enterprises. This move is a response to mounting complaints from local businesses and collaborations with various agencies, noted Auramon Supthaweethum, director-general of the DBD. The focus will be on sectors such as tourism, real estate, hotels and resorts, transport and logistics, as well as e-commerce and warehouses. The department aims to scrutinise the registration and financial integrity of Thai partners before they became juristic persons within these companies. The DBD will examine shareholding structures, executive powers, voting rights, and dividend allocations to pinpoint irregularities. To enhance detection, the DBD is developing an Intelligence Business Analytic System. This tool, projected to be ready within six months, will analyse the operational behaviours of juristic persons and assess the risk of them being used as nominees. Auramon emphasised that the probe will not be restricted to the initial targets. Any entities facing allegations regarding non-compliance with the Foreign Business Act will also be under the spotlight. This year's efforts saw the DBD scrutinising 26,019 juristic persons across sectors like tourism and logistics. Out of these, 498 were thoroughly investigated. While 371 were cleared, 64 faced charges over accounting issues and 63 remain under further investigation, with four companies suspected of acting as nominees. As the DBD intensifies its scrutiny, businesses may need to adapt to ensure compliance, signalling a significant shift in Thailand's economic landscape as authorities seek to strengthen the integrity of Thai business operations, reported Bangkok Post. -- 2024-11-25 -

Need Help With Lease Problem
Lies have short legs and I definitely wouldn't want my tenancy (or any other kind of business) based on that kind of a stitch up of one party or the other. It's a dishonest scheme that leaves you vulnerable to something as simple as one of the other parties simply changing their mind. If it got close to renewal time with no solution I'd be inclined to take the initiative and find a cheap short term rental while I looked for a decent new pad. Leave the landlord and the real estate guy to sort it themselves. It'd be worth a little short term extra costs to me for a secure tenancy and peace of mind. A stress free life is worth its weight in gold. Don't dance to others' tunes, play your own. -
