Give her a wave as she crosses through Thailand on the way to Mount Everest.

She's got a good shot for sure. Good choice of bike :D

Anyone who enters an Enduro race and places podium knows how to ride. Skills are not going to be an issue. She needs a good guide in China, same as that Singaporean group who did the same thing last year. I read the ride report on that, was pretty epic. A guide is the only way to do China, is what I learned from that.

I'd be happy to give her something if she passes this way....and a wave in the morning as I say goodbye.

...ster.

Cloud you please elaborate on what you learned on the necessity of a guide in China?

I've never heard of anything like that before.

Thanks.

Staying on one arm for the photo shot, doesn't prove she can do one arm push up. Looking at her skinny arms with no meat I bet she would have a hard time doing normal push up (2 arms).

I would wager the same thing.. the way her arm bends in that picture it's not in pushup mode. it's a weak hold with arm locked. I can't even lock my arm that far at this weird angle from being a man..

I just tried doing this and can do it with better form and without my heels to a wall

and I don't think I could do a proper one arm pushup (but haven't really tried ever, tbh),

she's good looking but I'm not sure she'll get that far. if she does, more power to her.

however she does beat my choice of bike for long trips, I did over 10,000 kilometers in a few months all over Thailand on my Honda Wave 125i ;\

A good way to tell lady from lady-boy is the ability to hyperextend the elbow, as depicted.

I've thought it would be fun to ride a Wave Thailand ==> Portugal.

+1

Of course this is just a show stunt. She can ride a bike and she is a good looking girl. I wait till she finished her mission and can show some real pictures as proof. Then she gets big respect from me. But not for making nice selfies.

She is more engaged in making PR and nice pictures than in preparing a seroius ride it seems. Are there other people planing and preparing for her? Why isnt she telling us?

As another poster wrote it's most likely one big publicity stunt, I did a bit more research on mrs Von and while reading several pages of her blog found out her "podiums" in enduro races did not have much to do with riding skills, but more to do with being the only lady participating in a small " hobby" event.

Her whole blog is full with advertisments/links to her sponsors and I very much doubt if this, no doubt, lovely lady actually will take off, and if she does most likely not Solo.

Here she is showing her " skills" on a Ducati Scrambler

Sometimes papa just takes off without logistical planning, just my kit & compass, but

I bet her team is a bit more methodical.

Seems as though a 'solo' venture is unlikely given media interest &c.

W & D, I'll bet a big beer she makes it somehow.thumbsup.gif

I'd recommend she gets a personal trainer.

Stay tuned.

Yes, there are bluescreens and more advanced technologies nowadays. Everyone can be a hero on facebook and youtube wink.png

I hope she can do it. I want to read the story. Hopefully a honest report, not just some glitter make up biker girl postings.

If she can raise some money for the help of disabled people i am the last one who would not encourage her. I hope its true and honest and not just a PR gag.

http://sdsc.org.sg/about-us/:

The Singapore Disability Sports Council (SDSC) is the only organisation in Singapore which reaches across all disability groups, offering a wide range of sports at both elite and non-elite levels. It is, in fact, Singapore’s national disability sports organisation.

Looking at the Scrambler pics and owning one I would say she is a very small girl. Even my GF can touch the ground easily and she's not the biggest. This girl barely reaches ground even when leaned. How can she ride the Hyper?

Scambler: 790mm

Hypermotard: 870mm

Smells like PR to me even though I would love to see more girls ride proper bikes and not just Vespas :)

They wouldn't have made it without the guide guy. Guide was basically the local fixer who made sure things worked out in different places, broken down bikes got picked up, broken down bikers could continue, etc.

I'm a bit sad to read her enduro creds are made up; but either way we'll see if she walks the walk soon enough. Just because somebody is a nice looking girl doesn't mean they can't ride bikes. It's not ... erm... rocket science now, is it. I heard a TED talk in Chiang Mai by (yes - by!) the very real first Thai female astronaut. A small lovely lady who won the Thai national competition for becoming an astronaut, and who did well enough in the training camp in the USA to be selected. Riding a motorbike is child's play in comparison.

Posted

@nikster sure there are plenty very capable female bike riders but by the looks of it the girl in question isn't one of them. Just look at all the silly faces on her pics, nothing but showing off.

So her enduro credits are made up, driving a manual - nothing unusual, diving certificates - plenty of Thai chicks are far more advanced than Advanced Open Water (my wife is AOW as well and rides a bike and can drive manual).

The girl in post #6 is real and I wouldn't doubt she could make such a trip.

Maybe when she comes thru on her 200cc dirt bike, papa will see her and wave.

I'll be on my 200cc dirt bike and would be willing to escort her to the northern border,

in an avuncular manner, shielding her from the cads like some above posters, shame.

She will need a fatherly uncle like you in Thailand. Good idea biggrin.png

But no place in her bed to keep uncles warm at Everest Base Camp. So dont forget to go back at northern border...

hmm yeah I guess with tons of breaks to rest the bottom it would be possible or you would probably just get used to it.

or a change of seat ;)

If I was alone and have some savings enough to do all of this and wouldn't have to deal with logistics like visa nightmares I would probably consider something like this.. but then again. it's not the case ;)

having the time or will to do it is not the issue, I'm pretty confident my Wave could do it without breaking with a little bit of maintenance here and there ;)

Just checked the link outs, and looking at her blog I somehow have my doubts if she's really up to this challenge, she looks a bit too much girlie to me. But I'll give here the benefit of doubt.

Go VON!!!

attachicon.gifbikebordersFontJ.jpgattachicon.gifVON 2.jpgattachicon.gifVON.jpg

(sounds like von. NOT yvonne, evon, vanne, vonee, voun, vanu)

My last name is Phan. (NOT pronounced as ffffan).

I'm born and bred in Singapore.
(NOT Vietnam, not Japan, not Thailand, not anywhere else)
I ride a motorbike, a Ducati Hypermotard. I love dirt biking too.
I am spontaneous, am told I'm funny and straightforward.
I'm feminine and I'm rugged.

Looks much like an arrogant, spoiled rich kid.

Guess she won't be going after what happened in Nepal.

7.9 magnitude earthquake yesterday, 6.7 aftershock 30 min ago.

Everest Base camp is swept by avalanche.

Posted

Last comment - let's face it there is very little to say about this until she rides, which is in July; which is enough time to clean up from the earthquake.

Side note - pretty terrible what happened but when you look at all the destruction in the pictures, look also at all the houses that are still standing. There are a lot of those too. News only shows the worst possible angles and so on, to make things more exciting. Don't just look at the victims, look also at the helpers, see how many people are helping out? Look for that. End of side-note.

She plans to ride to the Chinese side of Everest. She is not entering Nepal.

Will have to follow her blog to see if she actually does it.

I hope she doesn't do Ewan and Charlie and have a massive team accompany her.

If it would be done in that way it is of no interest.

Anyway, as I stated before:-

Go For It Girl.

ECK...self promotion.... don't you think, when she breaks her first nail.. that's the end of the trip... So be it..more power to her...coffee1.gif

Well she was in Thailand, on her DR200.

A bit of a dry run before the big one, perhaps. Her first trip to ride to Thailand from Singapore.

Check out day 2, entry at 1.16pm, and I quote:-

", I'm finally in THAILAND! Yayyy. Shag like don't know what."

Yes Vaune, I have said that to myself on numerous occasions when arriving in Thailand thumbsup.gif

Riding from Singapore to Thailand in sandals? I really get a feeling of a show here. Also note that products and company names are always bolded in the text and sometimes linked to. Probably sponsored events.

Stand corrected, the young lass has a steel rear end... also can take a crash.. good luck and safe travels to her..wai2.gif
