I'm just wanting to check a couple of things with regards to dates for FLR application - My wifes visa expires on the 28/11/2015 using the 30months minus 28 days from date of entry we can apply from 1st October. However, we are planning on going to Thailand in Mid October and returning Mid November (two weeks before her visa expires). I was therefore planning on sending off her application as soon as we are back.

i) Would coming back to the UK with only a couple of weeks left on the visa cause any problems at immigration?

ii) Would my wife still be able to work while the request in being processed?

1) As long as her current visa/LTR is valid then she should have no problems entering the UK.

2) When UKVI receive her FLR application then her current visa/LTR will be automatically extended until the application is processed and her FLR issued. So, legally she will be able to work. She may have problems proving this to any new employer without her actual passport with a valid visa/LTR or a valid Biometric Residence Permit, but if continuing in the same job with the same employer should not have any difficulties.
