Just For Giggles...

Featured Replies

Since I'm back in the US for a couple of weeks visiting my daughters, thought just for giggles I'd do a little 'reverse' internet test.

Since we are all painfully aware, regardless of our intra-Thai internet speed, the international connection is always poor. In my case on TOT fiber 30/3, pretty rock solid 30 to BKK with a 10ish ping, somewhere in the 8-15M range to San Jose, ping 250ish.

So here in my daughters apartment she has a 50/5 Cox cable connection. Speed tests generally confirm thats a pretty solid 50M with pings in the 10ish range to US servers. Same test to a Bangkok servers, pings unsurprisingly went up to ~250, but speeds always come in 40-45M, rock solid.

Confirms what we constantly speculate about, not capacity limited, but throttled for us poor sops in Thailand

Everything is throttled in a privileged society such as this. The rest of us have to tow the line.
