BANGKOK: -- Taking action on the national crisis of baldness, government pharmacists will introduce a treatment to the market for as little as THB10.

According to the Government Pharmaceutical Organization, it will bring to the market "GPO-Finax 1," a treatment based on Finasteride, which is commonly used to treat another male malady: the enlarged prostate. It’s also used for transsexual hormone therapy and apparently encourages hair growth as the active ingredient in treatments such as Propecia.

"This pill is another hope of bald people," organization Director Nopporn Cheunklim said. [read more...]

My doctor told me once that male hair loss could be remedied by reducing testosterone, and the easiest/fastest way was castration. Choice of bald or balled.

Can it be remedied by castration? Probably may only reduce further losses. Castration wont help a guy like in the photo.

Lord ....I hope the Uncle Creepy in the photo is getting a hefty royalty payment.....

Andy Biggs has been in Thailand ... forever. I think he speaks fluent Thai and because of his stature, which includes that massive cone-head dome of his, he's carved out a small niche for himself here. "Uncle Creepy" did make me laugh, though.

I remember a science teacher at the university telling me that if I wanted to become as rich as Bill Gates I would have to develop a cure for baldness.

Now the Thai "baldness pill" will sell for as little as 10 baht. Great! I don't have to spend money developing the pills. I can just buy for 10 baht here and sell for a fortune around the world.

I wonder if TV as well as Coconuts are ready for the huge lawsuit on their hands.

Andrew Bigs is a very public figure and makes serious money from his endoresements. Since I doubt that he has endorsed the useage of his image for this article, expect a huge lawsuit of defamation of character.

As for the article. Why not just say Thai doctors have made a knock off generic version of Propecia.

I have a cure for male pattern baldness also it is called castration. These chemical treatments have huge side effects and impotency is one of them. I guess if you are mixing Human Growth Hormones, viagra and this just to have a normal life, you are pretty screwed.

Andrew Biggs is a big man who values a sense of humor , hence his popular Bangkok Post columns. I seriously doubt if Andrew would be offended by something as amusing as the 'baldness pill" , and stoop so low as to try and make legal mileage out of something so petty.

As a matter of fact I suspect he may even do a witty column about it.

Andrew's picture is in the public domain and there is nothing for him to be offended about.

I have posted pictures and do not expect a phone call from Jason Statham's attorney. TVM.

I wonder if this is the same group that came up with the Thai HIV and cancers cure a while back? I have not seen much on those recently. One can only assume as to why that is. In any case, it will probably follow a similar course.
