EPL Transfers, Rumours etc, Summer 2015

Jipp 99 ^. I guess 'watched' both Norwich and Ipswich coterminously (1980 to 84) would be more accurate than 'supported', though I did have an affection for both. Why two coterminously? Simple - my parents had moved to Norwich from Carlisle and I lived with them during college holidays. I was at Essex University which was only 30 miles from Portman Road.

Can't be bothered with all the petty local rivalries that football supporters get into anyway, though I can just about understand it in the same city where you are living and having to put up with the banter in the school/office/pub on an hourly basis.

Surprised if Chicog believes a word Wenger says when it comes to transfers. He's notorious at liking to lead the press plonkers on!

Can't see him getting a promise of playing every game (or anything like) at Arsenal - I wouldn't drop any of our midfield as permanent starters in favour of him. Wenger rarely subs until the 65th minute at the earliest - he'd be nuts to choose the Emirates. If we had to lose Cazorla (rumours he wants to go back home) I'd buy Milner in a flash though.

Cazorla said he wants to finish his career at his old club.

The press turned this into "Cazorla wants to go to his old club".

So no need to worry Santi.

Right up there with this cracker that is there right now.

"Besiktas deny bid for Arsenal target Iker Casillas".

How easy is that job?

"Chico, Have you bid 100m pounds for Lionel Messi?".

"No".

Headline: "Chico denies GBP100m Messi swoop".

And once again the bookies have cleaned up. I wonder how much Sky Bet made?

Patrick Vieira is no longer under consideration to be the next Newcastle United manager, according to Sky Sources.

And it is also understood the club will hold talks with interim manager John Carver in the next few days to clarify his position at St James’ Park.

Vieira, who is currently an elite development coach at Manchester City, had been a strong candidate to take the job as his first in club management.

The former Arsenal and France midfielder is keen to manage in his own right and had been identified by Newcastle as fitting their criteria of a young and progressive head coach.

But he will now no longer be considered for the role.

If the club decide to make an external appointment and not keep Carver in charge, it is believed Steve McClaren will be a leading candidate.

McClaren is available after being sacked by Sky Bet Championship club Derby County last month.

Dayot Upamecano has visited Manchester United’s training ground ahead of completing his move to the club.

The 16-year-old Valenciennes centre back has been subject of a transfer tug-of-war between United and Arsenal in recent months.

But United look set to seal his signature after agreeing a fee at the weekend, and now the reliable France Football claims Upamecano has been to

Carrington ahead of the move.

He checked out the training facilities and was impressed with the club, and now looks set to sign on the dotted line.

Manchester City are believed to be planning a late move for the player, but United remain in the driving seat.

David De Gea’s move to Real Madrid is reportedly all but completed, with the Spaniard already having said goodbye to his Manchester United team-mates.

De Gea has refused the chance to commit his future to United despite their offer to make him the highest paid goalkeeper in history, and has been on the brink of a move to Madrid for the past few months.

A deal is now on the brink of completion, though, with the pull of a return to Spain appearing to prove too strong to resist for the 24-year-old.

According to the Sun, sources close to De Gea believe the transfer is virtually done, and claim that he has already said his farewells to United’s playing and club staff.

Madrid are understood to be convinced that they can get their man with a £30million bid, with United likely to turn their attentions to Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris as a replacement.

I think Milner will stay up north, could see someone like Everton coming in for him.

The other Mickey Mousers have more money.

Jamie Carragher reckons Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers will make James Milner the next Liverpool captain.

Milner, 29, is expected quit Manchester City to sign a £150,000-a-week deal at Anfield.

The England star will arrive on a free to replace Steven Gerrard in the heart of the Reds midfield.

And Carragher believes Rodgers could deliver Jordan Henderson a big snub by handing Milner the captain’s armband.

I see no captain material in Henderson. He's no leader, just let him play.

Milner, 29, is expected quit Manchester City to sign a £150,000-a-week deal at Anfield.

According to the Manchester Evening news, City offered Milner £165,000 per week on a four year deal.

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/man-city-prepared-make-james-9280886

Therefore, it seems a bit strange that he would go on a free for less money, when actually he could command more as there isn't a fee to be paid as well.

Also, maybe a Liverpool fan can confirm but wouldn't £150,000-a-week put him by far the highest paid Liverpool player? That may cause trouble with other players. According to this site and various info may vary, these are some of the main players but there are plenty of other main players that will be on half that amount http://www.totalsportek.com/money/liverpool-player-salaries/

1.Jordan Henderson signed a new 5 year deal which will keep him at Anfield till 2020 and he will earn £100,000 a week in wages.

2.Sturridge signed a new 5 year contract in 2014 after his impressive performances last season and it will earn him around £120,000 a week basic salary and it can reach £150,000 a week if he meet his performance clauses in the contract.

3.Raheem Sterling signed a 5 year deal back in 2012 which will expire in 2017 and Liverpool are desperate for him to sign a new deal and they are offering him around £100,000 a week salary. His current contract nets him just £30,000 a week.

4.Coutinho signed a new 5 year deal in february 2015 and it will double his previous salary of £35,000 a week to £75,000 a week. His new contract will expire in 2020.

If you do the maths, He's costing 28.8 million over four years. If half of that was a 14.4 mill transfer fee you'd be paying him 75 grand a week, so while it's good for him it's no real problem for the club (cheaper actually because it's spread over four years).

That's why Sagna is on six figures.

If figures are correct, it isn't strange at all. Seems he is more concerned about securing a regular place in his favoured position, (and he may possibly have been offered a Captain's role?) as well..... then given that most of a 15k pw difference will be taken up by tax, it wouldn't be a bad deal for him....... Maybe some players don't chase every single $ as much as you might think?

As for the other players, they are well aware that coming on a free allows greater wages. Doubt if they bother too much. Hendo might get upset about the captaincy situation though?

Morgan-Schneiderlin-Southampton-135x135.Arsenal will be bitterly disappointed as one of their main transfer targets Morgan Schneiderlin is heading towards rivals Manchester United.

The French international has been brilliant for Saints in the past two seasons and Wenger has tried to sign his compatriot.

However, as per latest reports, it seems that the 25 year old versatile midfielder will wear Man United shirt next season and is considered a long term replacement for veteran Michael Carrick.

According to Daily Star, reports in France suggest that Manchester United have won the competition beating Arsenal on the way to complete €34.8m deal for Morgan Schneiderlin.

One for you MrBo, with a healthy dollop of "I told you so".

tongue.png

"Liverpool Football Club are delighted to announce they have agreed a deal to sign Manchester City's James Milner, subject to a medical," the club said a statement.

I'll re-post if you like. My post merely reported that Milner was speaking with both Arsenal and Liverpool. And so he would obviously only go to one club. You said Arsenal weren't even speaking with Milner.

This tells me they were speaking. Thank you and apology accepted, in advance of one not coming in a million years biggrin.png

Liverpool are understood to have beaten off competition from Arsenal for his signature.

Arsenal never spoke to him and were never interested. They might have got a fax from his agent and it would have been lobbed in the bin.
