Air Quality in May/June/July

Featured Replies

I'm thinking of escaping Bangkok for Chiang Mai this summer.

How is the air quality?

Thanks!

This time of the year is good. Visibility some kilometres. March to mid-April was terrible.

it looks like Chongqing and Wuhan is 12 month a year....... maybe the many Chinese have brought with them their Air pollution ? ^^

but some heavy rainfall should wipe out the haze very soon indeed

Just fine, no worries.

have you lived in chiang mai may june July ?

I have for many years. Just fine no worry.

That is presuming you don't already have lung problems.

Well, so far in May, the PM<2.5 (really nasty stuff) levels are nothing to boast about compared to most standards where decent standards are observed, but they are quite a bit better than are experienced in Chiang Mai in the "normal" bad season. You should still be filtering air when you are able to do so, as with 3M filtrate in air conditioners for bedrooms or for a whole condo. Such filters are now available throughout Chiang Mai and are not that expensive. It is VERY hot and still little rain so far.

Too bad we have so many threads on this topic. People miss information or post queries or answers in miscellaneous threads like this one. There is a pinned thread heading up this local forum. It isn't seeing a lot of action these days. Since the super nasty days of pollution are over, concerns on TV Chiang Mai have returned full force to the the usual topics of restaurants, bar closing hours, and nasty traffic police. Uh oh, I almost forgot the impending death of Promenada! smile.png

Sad to see at least two fires burning today on the slopes of Doi Suthep.

It's on the improve now but still not 100% yet. It's fine though.

If the rains come periodically it's fine...

June - Sept is the raining not summer season...

May usually is hot and dry....
