BANGKOK: -- Open list voting may cause public confusion and will take longer time for ballot counting, according to the finding from a demonstration of open list voting carried out Monday by the Election Commission.

The demonstration took place at the Office of the Election Commission during 9am-10 am. A total of 200 staff members and executives of the EC’s Office took part in the mock open list voting. After that the ballots were counted.

The demonstration was chaired by EC chairman Supachai Somcharoen, commissioner in charge of elections Mr Somchai Srisutthiyakorn and Mr Prawit Rattanapien, commissioner for public participation affairs.

Findings from the demonstration will be submitted to the Constitution Drafting Committee for consideration.

In other words, the standards of other countries can't be implemented here due to the fact that our gullible voters get confused too easily.

That says a lot...

Yep...the voters are all stupid - we know, that already, as they kept voting for the wrong guys, lately!

The people who count the votes need to work longer and might make it home in time for their favorite soap- opera...so...no, not gonna happen!

It is so much better to give the people just one option or let someone decide ...let's say 70% of the MP's!

Yep...that will do it!

Title should just read 'Voting may cause public confusion'.

Particularly if it is not explained clearly on the ballot paper.

Maybe Prayut can invoke Article 44 and declare winners of the election. More efficient.
