HTC android phone: annoying 'system update available' message

Featured Replies

Ive had this HTC phone for 6 months and not sure if its related but I recently downloaded a game from google play and downloaded fbook messenger. Now Im getting a message popping up 'System udpate available'. I try to download but it says I dont have enough space. I deleted facebook and disabled google play but still do not have enough space.

I believe that I need to disable 'auto update' but cannot find this on my phone.

Please help!

thanks

What model HTC?

Caution: If you're thinking of taking the update, please research well trafficked user forums for that model. Some people have reported severe issues when they accepted an update to "Lollipop". So it's recommended you search for and read through the user comments of folks that have gone before you.

OS updates can be big.

If you still want to take the update you may need to do a factory reset and then request the update while memory is free. After the update is successfully installed then set your phone back up.

When I updated my htc m8 to lollipop I was instructed to usb connect the phone to a pc. I believe the update was then downloaded to the pc and the update managed locally. Worked just fine.

Is it true that after a phone is rooted that the system no longer updates to a newer Android system version?
