Hurry and marry her and buy her a house before she gets away. It is the wise thing to do (and quite popular too). See you upcountry with the new 'family' :-)

This reminds me of the old saying that I have heard so many times in Thailand.

" You dont understand this is different"

This reminds me of An English guy I met here once. He was complaining about all the immigrants in England.I asked him what did he think he was.His answer and belief was that he was an expat! Ahh I said, your an immigrant worker here.. If you work and live in a foreign country you are an immigrant.Ex Pat is a term that was used to seperate the notion of poor(often dark skinned immigrants) and affluent White people from the West. At the end of the day we are all immigrants and should show some compassion to other immigrants despite what colour their skin is...

Farangs living in Thailand are mostly Non-Immigrants (which is why their visas say so) -- very few have PR status or Thai citizenship. Only the latter two categories are Immigrants to Thailand. Non-Immigrants are in Thailand temporarily. And all three categories of farang are a financial boon for Thailand, unlike the Third World Immigrants and Asylum Seekers in farang countries who get PR-status and citizenship -- and as a group they cost Farang countries A LOT of money. And they almost never leave. They have migrated permanently. There is a big difference, don't you think? "At the end of the day we are all immigrants"... how very Politically Correct of you!

Regardless of your creed , class or colour.

In Thailand you are only as good as your last ATM. withdrawal .clap2.gif

At last,, No prejudice ,[ except financial ] wai2.gif

As we all know the "first world" countries all operate a policy where tourists can stay in five star hotels free of charge and expect all the local populace to smile and converse with all visitors at all times.

Should the poor tourist run out of money we will cough up to send them home or pay their medical bills or whatever....welcome to utopia!

Easier option , just call themselves immigrants , and they will be made welcome in the ,

UK . of course . nothing new .

We don't scrounge anything from the Thai Goverment, unlike the Immigrants who come to the UK.....

Thailand attracts a certain breed..... Just have a look around, ........

I am curious to know if the OP still lives here? If he does I suggest he leaves as he's obviously not happy here!! There is so much pent up anger and frustration in his post. Why live here if you dont like it? Yes, we are stereotyped by the locals. Just as Asians etc are stereotyped back in the Western World. The majority of people live inside their own bubble and fail to realise that their is a world beyond their own.I do feel that Westerners can be arrogant and hypocritical. Often, the same thing happens back home but maybe its happening without people realizing. For example, Thailand has corruption that keeps the average people in their place. In Europe we have a ridiculous amount of taxes, bills etc. That keeps the average person in their place too.. Corruption is wrong but over taxing people is, in my opinion, just another form of legalized extortion.

ps-- to the second post: Thailand is not a third world country. That form of classification died out about 15 years ago...

have to get my say on your last remark.

Thaland is a 3rd world country. If you look at upcountry education, university graduations being bought, unfit engineers, 4th world infrastructure, ineffective administration, missing 1st world knowledge on environmental issues, etc and so on.

For me, Thailand is a 4th world country with an Elite that tries to sing1st world songs, but forgets to participate its citizens

I really do not think, you should worry so much.

Thailand has for a long time been on a self-destructive path and it will most likely continue that way. Most Thais will have no clue of what happened, before it actually happens and it affects themselves personally. But then it will be too late...

What makes Thailand think they deserve quality tourists? The TAT wouldn't in a million years admit to the fact that beer and working girls are the backbone of the kingdom. Round them up and lock them away and a thousand guilded temples, waterfalls, camp sites and gem shops would get old fast.

There are a few sites like Kho Lanta where families actually come and stay maybe a week or two. It would take 20 years of quality or family tourism to all of those little distinations to equal the proceeds of one day of tourism in BKK.

Let's have a poll:

How many generations would it take for Thailand to lose its reputation as a destination for the fun-loving, hard-drinking, pot-smoking party-till-you-puke sinner back-packers and ho-mungers?

Let's start with 4.

One of my favorite ironies here in Thailand is walking past a streetside bar before 10:00 in the morning, overhearing the already drunk, unshaven patrons dressed in their wife beaters (if they have a shirt on at all), raggedy cut-offs, and flip flops- lamenting (in pidjin English they seem to be limited to nowadays) the decline of quality in the tourist sector.

Not once in my life have I ever thought it would be a good idea to go "all in" with third world country, especially a corrupt one.

As a result of my experience with corruption in the USA I left and came to Thailand. In my day to day experiences and contact with Thai folks at all levels I find them to be far less corrupt and dangerous than people in the USA. No one has filed a restraining order against me in Thailand and that is a common tactic of angry wives in the USA. Cops I met and inspectors I met in the USA all had an attitude; in Thailand they just want my pocket change.

I've lived in the USA for a number of years and in Thailand for the last 10 years of so and it was the best move I ever made. Not once have I ever been tempted to go back to my sorry, lonely existence in the USA.

I have lived in Nana and Pattaya and there is almost no one in any bars at 10 in the morning. The girls at the early places don't get there till 11 or 12 in the daytime.

Let me guess... you are a saint, and the contacts you had with police officers in the USA was merely due to mistaken identity. whistling.gif

Nothing much to do with me. The cops were always trying to shake me down for cash or product and/or expected me to kowtow to their petty authority trip. Scumbags all INMHO. Thailand is better because they ask for less.

Why are Eastern Europeans who have a legal right to live in the UK under the Treaty of Europe referred to as 'immigrants'.... This is a dictionary definition for the term immigrant: a person who migrates to another country, usually for permanent residence.

Temporarily resident! Your having a laugh mate. We can stay here forever if we want: hence we are immigrants. Get over yourself. Believe me I am the least politically correct person you'll ever meet.
