Police search home tied to UFUN
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Police yesterday searched a luxury house belonging to a suspect wanted in connection with the UFUN scandal.

Armed with a warrant approved by Southern Bangkok Criminal Court, police searched the house of Kawin Wongsa-nguan, 47. A warrant for Kawin's arrest was approved by the Criminal Court on May 23 on charges of conspiring to commit public fraud via a loan plan. He is the 32nd suspect implicated in the scandal.

Police found that UFUN on June 3 last year bought cashier cheques paid to Kawin. One was worth Bt18 million and the other Bt19.9 million. Nine imported cars were found at Kawin's house.

Kawin was not at home for the search. His uncle, former Pol Maj-General Wanchai Wisuthinant, said his nephew received the money in June last year for the Bt38 million sale of a building on Bang-na Trad 25.

Police phoned Kawin, who said he sold the building to UFUN and the company made it its headquarters. He said he would show proof of the sale. Police will check his documents and if innocent, the warrant would be revoked, they said.

"His uncle, former Pol Maj-General Wanchai Wisuthinant"

And that says it all ...

These Ufun guys already have the "fun" of a few months' grace to create paperwork and excuses.

And I wonder why almost all cases of high value individuals are linked in some way to political strongmen or the police/army or someone in government.
