True high speed internet now putting users behind a NAT.

If I am measuring site traffic to my site in Google analytics or Similarweb, would users behind a NAT be measured as the same session or user? This could have big implications if so.

Could someone explain or google-<deleted> for me as I am also ignorant. smile.png

Just as all users behind a home router appear to be the same user (IP Address-wise), it's the same for people behind an enterprise or carrier-grade NAT ... all their traffic is forwarded to a NAT Gateway before being having their IP Addresses translated to that of the Gateway. So 100-1000-10000 users could be sharing the same gateway device.

CG-NAT and Proxies both seem to be able to throw GOOGLE Search into a tizzy, re: the Too Many Requests redirect as these gateway systems send their requests using a common Public IP Address.

Many servers can identify individual users and individual sessions by relying on browser cookie session data.

Some servers use WebRTC to discover and then track/tag users with their actual Private IP Address.

But YES, if you only go by IP addresses, many users can appear under a single IP Address.

Suddenly, True put be back behind a NAT. I emailed them, and got no response. Then I called, and this time the guy knew exactly what a NAT was and told me he'll take me off of it.

I told him that I was not behind a NAT for the last 6 months, and asked him why they suddenly changed to put me behind a NAT. He checked his logs and told me that there was "no user action", and that it was probably "automatic".

Looking at the date that I originally started this thread shows me that it's pretty much exactly 6 months ago when I had this issue before. So it looks like their system automatically puts people behind a NAT after 6 months of being off it.

If that's so, I'm going to have to call them every 6 months to remind them that I cannot be behind a NAT!

True put be back behind the NAT for the 3rd time! It's only been 2 months since the last time they took me off of it.

What's really bad is that you usually only find out just when you need it the most! When you're trying to connect to your home from outside and are not able to connect, and there's nothing you can do to fix it because you can't reach your home!

True also repeatedly has connection outages here in Pattaya. Over 5 times per week. Sometimes lasting over 10 minutes!

I think it's time I start shopping for a new ISP. Does anybody know any other ISP's in Pattaya with a reliable and fast international connection to Japan with better service than True? I have been on the internet since 1994, and none of the other ISP's in my life have ever given me any problems whatsoever. They all just gave me a connection that worked, and always worked. True in Pattaya is by far the worst ISP I have ever experienced in my entire life! Why are they repeatedly putting me back behind their horrible NAT that doesn't even work properly? Why do they keep having connection outages? What is wrong with them???

I find 3BB to be the best. They ACTUALLY listen when you call and don't fob you off with the standard True line of the speeds are only within Thailand. I'm getting full speed to Hong Kong on speedtest.net. and on checkmy.com it's usually around 15/2. That's on 3bb 30/3 Fiber (only 4 connections to my village)

Does this mean I am behind a NAT?

My wan IP address is different to my IP address I am given when I use what's my ip. Would this be the reason I can not connect to my DVR remotely?

I rang True, the first bloke seemed to know what I was talking about but I didn't have my account number handy so couldn't do much. Once I got my account number and called back the lady tried telling my the problem was I had a dynamic IP address and not a static ip (that's why you use DDNS no?), after trying to convince her that was not the case she fobbed me off telling me she would get the network team to look into it and ring me back.

No call back yet..
