I have an account with SCB which I actually haven't used for a few years. There was only something like 5 or 700 Baht in the account, and this has been eaten by the yearly ATM card fees and because of no movements.

My last balance showed 200 Baht, so today I wanted to reactivate the account just in case of, but when I inserted my ATM card it showed a balance of 0 because the ATM renewal fee applies on June 1 and is 250 Baht. Actually I would be 50 Baht in the negative actually, and I was surprised the machine gave me my ATM card back.

So what happens if I don't do anything, even not close the account. Will it accumulate negative balance every year, and will I get charged when I try to open a new account at SCB in another branch in the future, or can I just forget about the whole thing and will the account dissolve itself?

I can't speak to how SCB handles such accounts, but since Thai banks seem to have very similar policies, below is how Bangkok Bank handles such accounts.
