webfact Posted June 19, 2015 Share Posted June 19, 2015 Unlicenced Phuket driver wrecks mother's car in early morning crashEakkapop ThongtubThe driver was lucky to escape with only minor injuries.PHUKET: -- An 18-year-old unlicenced male driver was lucky to espower cablescape with only minor injuries when he crashed his mother̕s car into an electricity pylon on Chao Fa East Rd in the early hours of Wednesday morning (June 17).However, the impact of the crash brought down power cables resulting in power outages in the area.At 2:40am, Chalong police were called to the scene of an accident in front of the Lumpoon restaurant on the southbound lane of Chao Fa East Rd.Police and rescue workers arrived at the scene to find a wrecked Toyota Yaris smashed into an electricity pylon. The impact of the crash had brought down power cables and a billboard.The driver, whose name has been withheld, suffered only minor injuiries and was given medical treatment at the scene by rescue workers.The victim̕s parents and an insurance representative also attended the scene and the latter informed police that the vehicle belong to the victim’s mother, Piyamon Tramart, and that the vehicle was covered by full insurance.The Phuket news was told by a rescue worker that the victim was driving without a driving licence, however, it was unclear whether he was under the influence of alcohol.Police were unable to confirm to The Phuket News whether any charges would be brought against the man. Most likely the mother will claim that the vehicle was taken without her permission, making it joyriding. If that is the case insurance will cover, but come to the 'boy' to recoup their losses. Sorry but I blame the parents, who in there right mind would let there 18 year old go out driving with no Liscense.... Terrible, but Hey this is Thailand not uncommon.....
