CNC machinist needed.

Recommended Posts

Hi : ))

Trying to help a good friend here....smile.png good deed for today !

4 years ago he started selling 'Snake Tongs' which had sold well ( in Thailand and exported ).

The problem is the guy that makes them has had to retire due to ill health...

last thing he wanted to do of course...and its been a hard decision...sad.png

So my friend has been trying to contact several companies over the last few months and

got no where. Either no replies or there not interested.

Currently there is a back log of orders . Customers happy to wait for a new supplier

to be found...but obviously if no company is found soon then it will all be over. A shame sad.png

Does anyone know a 'friendly' machinist or someone that can machine parts from aluminium.

Hope someone can help,biggrin.png

Kind Regards,

FM

We CNC Aluminum parts, mostly 7075 but also 6061. But only a CNC lathe no milling. Because mostly we do CNC machined hydraulic seals, not metal work.

But I am sure my guys in the office also know some milling shops if needed.

If you have a drawing and an estimate amount I can tell more.

I'm a CNC machinist but don't have a CNC.

I'm guessing you would need to find a small shop that would take this on. Whereabouts are you?

Are there no industrial areas nearby?

I'm not a CNC machinist, but I have a CNC.

Granted, a small little fidgety thing, but still fun to play with. wink.png

Anyway, FachMach73 I don't know where you are but in Bangkok (and I presume other cities) is not hard to find machine shops and if the one you find doesn't do CNC they'll point you to one that does. You can try looking and asking around Tri Mit road in Chinatown, lots of machine shops there.

Which reminds me I should go there to buy some aluminium stock...

Hi All, Firstly a big thank you for all the replies and advice !

were based in Cha am / Hua Hin

The idea is to continue making them .

The last machinist was German and the quality and finish was great.

All the parts were made from one block so there wasn't much waste.

once the parts were made it was just assembled , tested and sold.

my replys to comments : )

AleG - not fancy making some parts ? if we cant find anyone on TV we will have a trip to Chinatown in BKK.

Impulse - cant make it to the show this weekend ....grrrr....if it was next weekend etc etc

H90 - if you could help that would be great... I can send drawings...and find out the rates that where paid to the Machinist.

best by email or PM ?

Longstebe we have tried everywhere around here looks like BKK is the place.

huge thanks againsmile.png ...........kind regards FM post-220291-0-25822800-1435376988_thumb.post-220291-0-11358400-1435377017_thumb.post-220291-0-09983600-1435377043_thumb.post-220291-0-31615800-1435377054_thumb.

Sorry, I just do small stuff as a hobby; I don't have the time or the facilities to get into a manufacturing business.

A CNC mill that can handle the feed rate needed to make more than one of those things per fortnight, and full complement of stone deaf neighbours in the adjacent apartments; being chased by people bearing torches and pitchforks is not all that it's cracked up to be. tongue.png

Thanks for all the replies.smile.png ....been a huge help.....and witty of coursetongue.png

Did you find were to get it done?

Every now and then I need to get some stuff done, so far I didn't need CNC work, just normal machining, but I'd be interested of knowing of your experience getting CNC work done.
