Help with identification of Indic script

Mole

Recommended Posts

This pic of a monk holding hand with a girl has been causing an outrage in the Thai scene.

It's claimed to be taken in Burma, but the script on the signs are obviously not Burmese.

Could anyone help with identifying exactly what language it is?

Who cares?

Much ado about nothing.

It has been clearly analyzed that the whole thing is a photoshop fake.

But it is funny to read about the excitement of Thai Buddists about something presumed happening in a country they can not even identify gigglem.gif

Laughable.

At least some news articles speculate about India.

No it isn't! That moron CSI LA believes it's shopped, but it isn't.

It's the MIDDLE photo which is shopped. You can clearly see that her legs are BEHIND the monk, so her shoulders can't obviously be IN FRONT of him.

He had lots of fantasy ideas about the Ko Tao case. I took a pic of the AC Bar on Ko Tao and posted on his page and he claimed one of the lamps was a CCTV camera, so I told him it's not and had to upload a high-res pic so he can see it properly.

I've even spoken with him on skype. He's really one of those conspiracy theory nuts.

Then when I read his post about his theory that the pilot deliberately crashed the AirAsia flight, I've had enough of his bullcrap and unfollowed that page.

Well, its not the usual style of Burmese script, but I think it is the Burmese script. In the largest sign, the top line appears to end ချိဍ္ဎ်. The second line seems to end ရွေဆိင် or ရွေဘိင် . In the sign behind it, a final <n> is very visible -န်.

You may have to copy the Burmese script text to a decent text manipulation tool - Firefox on Ubuntu makes a real mess of it in the preview, which is unusual. It doesn't form the vaguely psi-like ligature for the first line and the first two characters are the wrong way round! I recommend the Padauk font for those who have it.

Hello? Didn't you even bother to read anything except for the first post???

"please reply only if you know what it is."

also:

"I asked a friend in Burma and he told it's indeed Burmese. Case closed."

Nepalese is using Devanagari script, which is the same as in Hindi.
