Some of you really don't get it.

The future of Phuket tourism, (if it has a future), is with Chinese, Indian, Koran, Arab and maybe Russian tourists. Do you think they give a hoot about animal welfare?

When was the last time you saw a Korean tourist visit Soi Dog in Mai Khao, unless they thought it was an open-air restaurant?

Yeah true enuf, thailand from a western perspective as a tourist destination imo is spiralling towards almost undesirable but what the thais are concerned with is image and this is a definate down grade but hey as u say the koreans chinese ect ect are where their future bucks are and they are as a rule of thumb, unfortunatly, ignorant rednecks. And lets be honest your average thai aint that much better, them obsessing about 24 /7 total tv coverage of the chang mai pandas to me bacs that up. And what a f----- cking truly shocking place that is!!!!! but seemingly luved by the russians chinese ect ect.

It IS Third World Military junta depriving citizens of right to vote - check, suppression of freedom of speech - check - lack of law enforcement - check - endemic corruption throughout society - check, cherry on top upcoming Firewall limiting access to outside world - check.

A few shiny SUV's hurtling about and condominiums of dodgy provenance being slung up every damn where does not a first world country make.
