HI folks,

Recently separated from the GF (never married her) we have daughter together. My Visa will run out soon. What possible extensions can I get?

Can I get the same extension of stay that I am currently on (one year extension of stay based on being father of thai child) ?

I do not live with the Ex gf (obviously, duh!) or the little one.

What are my options?

Thank you kindly in advance.

According to the regulations you can't because you're not living with your daughter.

You should be able to obtain a single-entry non-imm 'O' visa outside Thailand, and then a 60 days extension.

The 60 days extension can be applied also to each entry of tourist visa, in which case with a double entry you would be able to stay for a total of 7 or 8 months with one border hop.

With the regulations in my hand..Paz, you confirm exactly what I thought. No idea of the tourist visa, Thanks for that.

I am reading 1 x non o 90 days + 60 day extension = 150 days

Double entry tourist visa and 2 60 day extensions = 240 days

You can't use a 60 days extension of the first entry, because visa validity is 3 months. But on the second entry you can try to get 30 days tourist extension first, and then the 60 days one.

Also, if you have legalized your child you may be able to get a multi entry non-imm. 'O' visa in Savannakhet.

If you not married legally you do not have a child here, even if name on birth cert , no good, you have a lot of hoops to jump through I am afraid. You must get your father rights through the courts, long and expensive and for visa she must live with you. Good lick

Thanks Paz. I have indeed.

Thank you kindly. All done last year. I have fathers rights.

The only successful reports of getting a multiple entry non-o based upon being the legal parent of a Thai in Savannakhet is when the entire family was present when the application was done to demonstrate they were living together as a family (de facto marriage).

You can get one in Penang if you can show 200 to 400k baht in the bank.

All good so far, she has to actually live with you in the same house.

A Thai consulate issues the visa for the purpose of travelling to Thailand to visit the child, ie the father lives outside Thailand and the child lives in Thailand. It is not necessary for the child to live in the same household with the father during the father's visit to Thailand.

And then? What the Admin wrote is, of course, correct - a visa will be issued. Then extension can be used as mentioned above.

Thank you. I'm afraid I failed to make it sufficiently clear that I was replying to the comment "...for visa she must live with you..." in the post that I quoted.

He will NOT get an extension if the child does not live with him.

1 year extension, no. 60 days extension, yes.
