Hello,

There is supposed to be a durian festival in Uttaradit around this time of the year. It is held in the Laplae district of Uttaradit province.

I can't seem to find the information of date for 2015 in English. The closest I could find is this link in Swedish

25-28 July

I would like to enquire if any of you know for sure when will this year Laplae durian festival be held.

I will be driving up to this festival from Bangkok ..

Thank you very much.

I would like to see this. The negative is that durian is so filling, it would be difficult to try a lot. It took me many years to appreciate this smelly fruit, but I am hooked on it now.

I like durian, but I doubt I'd drive anywhere special for it. Besides, at a festival, it would take a month of washing to get the smell out of your clothes!

You must be joking...

Not joking. Dead serious.

And I have just returned from a weeklong driving trip to Malaysia.

I have family in the north, and my family love durian very much. Treat it as a weekend family trip back home.

This is the first thing that comes up on google. It may be in June at the same time as the more famous Chantaburi Durian Festival? Best to speak to the Thai Tourism Authority to get it verified.

That's the right festival. However the blog post was written in June 2013. Last year 2014 the festival was held around end of July. If I couldn't get information elsewhere I will give local Thai Tourism Authority a call ..

I visited the Chantaburi Durian Festival last year and was rather disappointed as 95% of it was not about durians or fresh produce, even getting a freshly blended fruit shake was a challenge (most of the stuff sold was limonade).

So if you go to this one, please update us with a trip report, as I would definitely want to go as well, if it’s actually about fresh produce with emphasis on durians.

Btw: If you just returned from Malaysia, I hope you took the time to enjoy the delicious fruit down there. They have far more varieties than Thailand, and their street side stalls often have chairs and tables, so you can enjoy them at the premises and order seconds smile.png
