Transfer (registration) of motorcycle to another name /owner

Is there anyone with recent experience of which documents are necessary in Phuket for the transfer of a motorcycle to a new owner and do we both have to met up at the Transport office?

If both of you go to the LTO it will be smooth sailing. If not, be prepared to show a sales contract, copy of ID of the old owner, signature of the owner in the right column in the green book, power of attorney signed by the old owner, for sure the green book, and whatever they might think of. If the seller is no Thai, it can require even more. Oh, you will a proof of residence for your side, too. Have fun, it can be done in about 30 minutes including the check of the bike, engine number, frame number, etc.

You need a "residence certificate" from immigration. I do not have these, but I understand a work permit and almost certainly a yellow house-book, if you have one, will work in place of the "residence certificate". They need something that shows or proves you live in Thailand.

You do not have to go to the LTO, you can go to any P.R.B. (pronounced Paw Raw Baw) office and they can also handle all this for you for a small commission. These offices are everywhere. If you have the Green book on the bike then the person in the Paw Raw Baw office will know exactly where all the signatures go and they will take rubbings of the vehicle number off the bike. They know everything that is to be done. They do it everyday.

If the Paw Raw Baw person can't find the vehicle number for the rubbing then go to a local bike shop they sells your brand bike and they will know exactly where the number is and take the rubbing for you. Bring the rubbing back to the P.R.B. person. Our local lady couldn't find it on our PCX so I drove a few feet down the road and got the Honda mechanic to do it.

We did one recently and the transport office would not accept the yellow house book for a foreigner they required him to get a certificate of residence from immigration.

YMMV

I was there (Immigration) this morning. Very easy. They wanted passport w/copy, copy visa, registration of house owner copy, photo and 300moneyfacepalm.gif

Probably dumb question, but what is RC, is that at transport office.

Bit ironic in a country where the media daily write about eradication of corruption and the ones who are supposed to enforce the laws are going all opposite.
