robertthebruce
Sad loss. Obviously differing opinion but you have to acknowledge the success. I saw her live at the Adelphi in Slough in 1964 along with several of the contemporaries, her and Lulu certainly didn't appear to the brightest stars in the bunch. Lulu and Cilla were the best, both Crackers..... Cilla was a good woman, so sad....
PETERTHEEATER
RIP, Cilla. She didn't appear to have any discernible talent as such but made the best of what she had. Her singing voice was akin to listening to an air-raid siren. I would rather listen to Cilla than a good deal of this modern rubbish that's all machine mixed. When these modern 'stars' sing live, their lack of any real talent is painfully obvious. That said, one mean's meat..... One MAN'S meat Wrong thread. The Japanese bureau chief's 9 is discussed elsewhere......
bendejo
She didn't make the Atlantic crossing back in the British Invasion era. Saw her name in magazines but never heard her on the radio. Most of her hits mentioned in this thread were on the charts in the US but sung by others (eg, Dionne Warwick sang Alfie).
Lokie
Never lost touched with her roots, a normal girl from liverpool who became a Star - never a snob and always had time for her fans, a nice lady and at one stage the biggest UK TV enterainer, crap shows or not they were at the time the No1 TV shows with biggest audieances on prime time Saturday night slots - Fact. She never got over the death of her beloved husband and manager Bobby who passed in 1997, apparently since marrying in 1968 they had only spent 3 nights apart. hope you are now happy together R I P luv
Neeranam
Couple of ok songs but was on tv too much with those crap shows, she wasn't funny unless you came from Liverpool and liked that other unfunny comedianTarbuck I respect your opinion, but most people would disagree with you. RIP I know she was like, but I really did suffer when visiting my parents every Saturday when they insisted on watching some of her programs, especially Blind Date. I wished her no harm and hope she RIP.
elliss
Tame compared to some of the stuff written in today's Guardian obit piece, despicable some of it. Apparently our Cilla was a Tory. Quite right, Our Cilla,,being from a working class back round, obviously supports the Tory party , the right choice. The alternative , is the socialist / social security , bennies , culture . OK , for the work shy ,lame and lazy, lower caste , relying on other peoples money .

Lokie
Yep, just been on the Beeb: Arfur Daley actor Goerge Cole age 90, Minder what a great double act with Dennis Waterman and funney story lines with dodgy deals with Arfur getting into all sorts and Terry normally left to bale him out...
