webfact Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Administrative Court throws out Wattana’s lawsuit against NCPO BANGKOK: -- The Central Administrative Court has rejected a lawsuit filed against the National Council for Peace and Order by former Thai Rak Thai MP Wattana Muangsook for refusing him to leave the country for abroad. In the lawsuit lodged with the court, Mr Wattana charged that the NCPO exercised power at its whim and intended to restrict the rights of politicians deemed its enemy. The NCPO’s overseas travel ban against him is against democratic system with the King as the head of state, alleged the former Thai Rak Thai MP.However, the court ruled that the NCPO’s order forbidding Mr Wattana from travelling to Singapore on July 15 was in line with the NCPO’s announcement 21/2557 forbidding 155 individuals, including Mr Wattana, from leaving the country unless there is a permission from the council. The court also said that the travel ban against Mr Wattana was in conformity with the interim constitution.Source: http://englishnews.thaipbs.or.th/administrative-court-throws-out-wattanas-lawsuit-against-ncpo -- Thai PBS 2015-08-03
bamnutsak Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 Amazing that you need a court to: a.) confirm that his name was on the list, so that means a travel ban is "legal". b.) confirm that the travel ban conforms to the interim charter. Gotta love the Judiciary here, one huge-mongous rubber stamp. No consideration of pesky rights, or citing of precedents.
Srikcir Posted August 3, 2015 Posted August 3, 2015 How is it judicial reform when the judiciary is a political extension of the Executive branch of government?
