PHUKET: -- Police are currently hunting for another big-time Phuket drug dealer who fled when police raided a home he stayed at yesterday night (August 5). At the home, police found B3 million worth of methamphetamine pills (ya bah), 2.15 kilos of crystal meth (ya ice), guns and ammunition.

At 11:30pm a team from the Phuket City Narcotic Suppression Unit raided a house Moo Baan Srisuchart Grand View 5 in soi Lakkongsi in Rassada which they say is where the big-time drug dealer stayed.

Police learned that the dealer stayed there after arresting a number of local small time dealers and drug addicts.

During the raid, police seized 2.15 kilos of ya ice, 1,469 pills of ya bah, four pistols and 400 bullets along with two safes, three mobile phones, digital scales, a wallet containing ATM cards and an ID card, a bank account book, drug taking paraphernalia, a Toyota pick-up truck and a motorbike.

Chief of the Phuket Narcotic Suppression Unit, Lt Col Prawit Eagchuwn said after the raid, “The suspect, Anuwat Thongton, 31, a resident from Koh Kaew, must have fled the scene just before the raid because the air conditioning was still turned on and there were plastic bags containing hot food in the kitchen.”

“When officers searched the home they discovered three big bags of ya ice weighing about 2.15 kilos, eight bags containing 1,469 ya bah pills, four guns, 400 bullets, one gun silencer sound, two safes, a pick-up truck and a motorbike.

“All the drugs are worth an estimated B5 million,” he said.

“While officers were conducting the search, one man showed up and said that he was a taxi driver and had come to see Anuwat to find out the name of a mechanic who could to fix his taxi.

We were suspicious about why he really went to the house so he was taken to the station for questioning,” Lt Col Prawit added.

Police would not reveal the taxi driver's name.

Police are now looking for the home owner and Anuwat and will get an arrest warrant for him from Phuket Provincial Court.

Maybe a supervisor should check all the phones of all the policeman on the raid to see who called the dealer beforehand to let him escape.

Although that could well be the case, it could also just be another case of the police going in the front while the criminal goes out the back, never overestimate the RTP.
