Live Turkeys Wanted

Featured Replies

Looking for a few live turkeys to have run around my farm. A few mating pairs or whatever I can get.

Any ideas where to look, who to ask etc. etc.

Also wondering about how much they sell for.

Thanks, JC

Shouldn't be too hard to find, this country and these pages are full of them, judging from their action

and comments, albeit not the feathered kind though.....

Prices vary dramatically...

Down south you can pay between 500 baht to 20,000 baht but that is for prize winning stock :)

You should be able to pick up a pair for around 2k max...

I've run into a couple of prize winners here just recently, although I'd be very surprised to find that these gobblers were still capable of mating.

Perhaps if the price were right, they could be convinced to give it one more go? laugh.png

I heard there used to be a fellow in Hui Hin who raised them.

that's old news. he was taken to the cleaners by a Thai ex-wife and lost everything including his 25 rai turkey farm. this was many years back.

Just wait at the National Stadium; the Thai football team will turn up soon.

JJ market animal part has some. It must be 1000 baht one.

Where do you live? In Nakhon Phanom, there is a turkey farmers' co-operative, and there are other turkey farms between Nakhon Phanom and Sakhon Nakhon.

Where is your farm??

I was offered young turkeys for 250 THB each in Chiang Rai province.

I find it offensive that you are advertising this openly on TVF. Listen, I may have been ineffectual at certain endeavours from time to time, but I'm no turkey.

I cannot speak for other TVF members.

My brother in law bought 4 a couple of years ago,1500 baht each, has about 30 now. They are just free range on the land and we eat one some time ago but it was like chewing leather.

He has a bit of a problem now, they are not like chickens, they move about mob handed and will attack anything that goes near. Even the dogs steer clear.

I want to buy Turkeys too, but near Sisaket.

I was just as disappointed with my experience of a Thai free range turkey. I think that the one that the wife and I bought last Christmas must have been running around for about two years. It was stringy, tough and tasteless.

You may want to recruit your turkeys from some TVF posters...sorry...could not resist...

Be aware some may be DOA...

Typical farang assumption, my brother in law is Thai and the birds he bought were adult breeding pairs. Your 250 baht variety probably don't lay eggs. He is hardly an amateur with poultry, some of his chickens can fetch up to 10K baht.

Not sure as if I see the connection between that being old news and trying their Forum today. There may be some one with more information than that is old news.

One of my 2 males...

Thais will often pay more than Farang do. Guy down the road from us paid 1500 baht each.
