BANGKOK: -- The Transport Ministry will speed up implementing its five development strategies which encompass 17 infrastructural projects which include deep-sea ports and railroad projects among others.

Transport Minister Arkhom Termpittayapaisit and his deputy, Mr Omsin Chivapruek, told the Press on Wednesday that the 17 projects would cost a staggering 1.66 trillion baht in investments to be spread out across eight budgetary years. They projects will boost growth rate by one percent.

Some of the projects have already been implemented and others such as the three motorways namely Pattaya-Map Taput, Bang Pa-in-Korat and Bang Yai-Kanchanaburi are in the process of preparations to call bids.

Two other top priorities for the two ministers include the Significant Safety Concerns issued raised by ICAO and the IUU (illegal, unreported, unregistered) illegal fishing raised by EU.

Minister Arkhom said that an update report on SSC has already been sent to ICAO by the Transport Ministry. Representatives of ICAO will be invited to inspect aviation supervision progress in the second quarter of next year.

As a caretaker Government between Democracy the Junta seems to have the mindset of an elected Government , under the present administration who do the people charge or accuse if these projects all turn out to be lemons , the junta seems to be very liberal with the people's money with the Prayut - O transparency ( Government to Government agreements ) it is all very well trying to spur the economy along these projects should have been years in the making not 18 months , not enough research has been done , not enough design and certainly not enough public comment , a typical dictatorship with no regard for the consequences. coffee1.gif

Will the traditional 30% corruption surcharge apply? I would like to see Prayut issue a statement that if anyone, big or small, is caught stealing from the public purse, they will be executed. Not sent to Dubai or Singapore, executed. Perhaps that will put a stop to the old nudge nudge wink wink "a little bit can't hurt" attitude in Thailand.

Why do governments think they produce something ? What is the Thai government making that they can sell for a profit ?

Speed it up, and build it more crappy than usual.

So, the current government should sits on it's hands till the charter bit got sorted out? Tell Somkid to go home? I'm afraid both Thai and a few members here will be disappointed. It would seem some want the current government to do something to help the economy improve.

Bla, bla, bla. When all is said and done....more will have been said than done. Thailand...the Hub of cheap talk and dreams plods on !

Jobs.

Jobs produce businesses that make a profit for investments, income for workers who drive domestic consumption.

Very basic economics.
